I was just wondering if I use my Disney card to make the deposit for our trip, do I have to pay for the trip with my card or can I make payments? :confused3 I really want to take my DGD with this year and with free dining it would be great.

I am confused about this too and called Visa yesterday to try to get some answers, but ended up more confused. If they offer 0% for 6 months, then why does the deposit post to your statement the same month? I thought that I read on another thread that the vacation charge is listed seperate and is not included with the rest of the everyday purchases? Someone also stated that when you make payments, they do not deduct from the Disney portion first, they will deduct from your interest purchases. Does anyone know the answer?:confused3

when i spoke to the CM yest when i booked...she checked and said the deposit must be with disney visa and the balance eventually must be paid by it as well...i dont know if they are just telling people that to keep the card consistent or if they will actually not let u have dining if u dont

I don't have a Disney Visa, and paid onboard for our deposit with our "regular" Visa. So, would there still be a reason to get a Disney Visa? I'm going to get an AAA Visa (we use AAA for travel), because I do get some advantage there when I pay for our rooms, but wondered if I should get a Disney Visa too?:confused3

Why I am asking is because the amount for our trip is more than what I have left on my card. :sad2: I read on another site someone saying I have to use my card to pay for the whole trip. They arn't as reliable of course as Dis. Just hard for me to belive that they would say " Sorry, You can't book a trip with us unless you put the whole thing on your card' But if you call on the 12th, You can put deposit down and use dis. visa and then make payments other ways" Oh well...I will just call. Hopefully The person won't think I'm a complete idiot.:hippie:

hi,

I called and booked yesterday, and only needed to put the deposit down on my Visa.:thumbsup2

just the deposit has to be paid on the disney visa. $200.

You have to pay it off by 45 day mark before trip date.

Yesterday, the CM first tried to tell me that the balance had to be paid using the same credit card (the disney card). I said, "could ya go and check that please" - she came back and said I was right. Uh yeah, I know cuzz my Dis told me how it works (yay Dis!).

You can pay the balance any way you'd like. check, (any) credit card, whatever.

Also - as far as the 0%. I was told here, that the 6 mos 0% interest on the deposit is from the day I put the deposit down on the disney credit card.

Now, if I pay the balance later, say at the 45 day mark or whatever, the 0% interest would start from that date (not the day I paid the deposit).

Does that make sense? Hope that helps you!

There are a lot of threads on the Resorts/Codes board on the Dis regarding Disney Visa and Free Dining that helped me out a lot (thanks knox and gang!) :)

I can't say for sure about having to charge the whole thing on your Disney Visa (since I always do) but there is one thing you may not be aware of regarding the 6 months, no interest:

Yes, your Visa card will keep the Disney vacation amounts separate (on your bill) but be aware that ANY credits you have issued to your card (except for payments) will automatically reduce your special offer balance. If you use your card for purchases, for example, at Target, and make a return, that credited amount will be applied to your special offer remaining balance. I noticed last year that my remaining balance kept diminishing and when I called Visa, they explained it to me. For my final balance from last Sept. I posted enough credits that the amount was reduced from about $850 to $450 (I guess I make alot of returns!) Once I was aware of this, I made sure that some of my returns (especially when I was buying something else-like a different size, etc.) I had the store issue a store credit, instead of a credit to my card.

Hi Mary,

I paid my deposit in February, and it showed up on my statement that next billing cycle and it wasn't seperated from my regular charges. How can I tell I am getting 0% financing? I thought it had to be kept seperate? :confused3

I would call to check to be sure (if any issue let us know cuzz I only booked the deposit myself!). The way it was explained to me, is that Visa knows that the $200 is a disney vacation deposit - they just know. :thumbsup2 or should I say :confused3

But, ya also gotta realize that when we have other regular charges that do produce interest, chase will pay on the 0% stuff first, when you make your payments.

the way it was explained to me, is, say you have $200 deposit for your vacation, and you also have $100 in charges for the month. - Then you make a $100 payment. They will apply that $100 toward your vacation deposit, and you will pay interest on your charges.

This also would apply to balance transfers that are 0%. They would rather make money than not, ya know?

I just got the card myself last month, so I just learned all of this - If I am incorrect on anything - someone here will surely correct me!

OK, I'm a total dork LOL. I called Disney Visa and the gal explained to me and had me look at statement online. Duh! There at the bottom was promotional balances! I messed up though because you need to MINUS the vacation totals from your statement when you make the payment. I PAID my entire balance, thus paying off all of the vacation charges. Just call me Dum Dum!:rolleyes1
