We are going on our first ever trip in December with the kids. Now that we are around 40 days the kids have really gotten excited. My 11 year old tells everybody she is going. Every single time I want to CRY. Just the amount of excitement in their voices reduces me to tears and we are not even there yet! Does this happen to everyone? (My oldest daughter who is 19 just cracks up..I cried at every band competition she was in in HS, every awards ceremony..) DH says I am a little out there...but I did notice at dinner the other night he was a little red in the face when Allison(11) was talking about the castle and how she wished we could have gotten a reservation...we did but it is a birthday surprise! Even when I read the threads with all the great pictures I get a little lump in my throat anticipating my pictures...am I crazy or what???? I used to think it was because I just love my babies alot..alot. Now I am wondering!!!! :confused3

You are absolutely not crazy. I am taking my family back(in 20 days) for
our 10th trip and my kids still get so excited I want to cry and will cry the
first day when we walk down main street in the MK and see the castle.

It is an incredibly exciting experience for all of us but especially kids, my
kids boys 11-5 (and 18 but he is to cool to play) sit at Sunday breakfast
every week for the last 2 months and play the guess which ride or restaurant I am describing just to work themselves up even more.

Have a magical time and take ALOT of pictures. ::MickeyMo

I'm the same way! I get so teary eyed when I hear how excited the kids are. There is actually a thread on the "Welcome to the Disboards" forum about this very topic. You/we are definitly NOT alone!!!
Kimba :paw:

I wish we (and our kids) were still that excited, but after so many trips it's just not as exciting as the first couple times. Don't get me wrong, it's still exciting, just not the level you're describing. Enjoy it, cherish it, and remember that feeling. I would bet many of us here would love to have that "first WDW trip" feeling again.

join the club. I cry when I see the castle.

this Dec will be our last family trip, most likely. Our DD will be 20 tomorrow and with her work and college classes, she probably won't be able to go again with us.

Our boys are 11 and 8 and their first time there was 3 years ago.

I know what you are going through.

It's good to feel like that, like it is a special time, enjoy it.

Kelly,
You sound like an amazing and loving mom!
Let the tears roll!!!

I do feel better now! I just will plan on bringing my hankies because I am quite sure there won't be a day I don't cry AT Disney. I will indulge in the "first timer" feeling and cry until my heart is content. As for seeing the castle..believe me, I am sure that will happen. I can't even log onto the Disney website! :rotfl2:

Nope join the crowd. We are taking our first family trip, I've taken the kids before with my family but my dh never went with us. I am so excited, my dh shakes his head.

You're SO not crazy. Many things Disney make me misty, and I literally sobbed through Festival of the Lion King because it was just soooo Disney, and then they picked my little guy to go up and dance with them. I was a mess. A happy, happy mess. :)

lol I don't have any kids and it's just going to be me and my FH and I get teary eyed. I get teary eyed thinking about the first time we get to bring our not even thought of children.

Kelly, I am so with you on this! DH and I are taking our DDs ( princess: 8 and princess: 5) in December--the first time for us in WDW. I got teary last night just watching DD5 at dance class (she was adorable) :lovestruc ! Anyway, take all that emotion surrounding anything to do with our great kids, add in the Disney magic, and quadruple it with the Christmas season spirit.....Oh my! I must remember to pack a bunch of those little travel Kleenex packets in my pack ;) !

I hope you have a wonderful time on your trip--judging from your posts I think it will be the time of your life!

I question myself too sometimes and it is bizarre !!
BUT, it makes us a happy bunch of people.
AND don't try and figure it out.......its perfectly okay!
Have A Magical WOnderful Vacation! :flower: :lovestruc

never say never about your oldest! i am 32, my sisters are 30 and 28 and we are all going with my parents in just 3 weeks. we went as a college graduation trip for me back in 97 and then again in 2001 as well. I'll never get too old to enjoy time with my family there. :rotfl:

and yes, we are just as excited as our first trip. we've been many times, but still love the anticipation. we even put together a little monthly newsletter for the last few months for the 8 of us going, since my aunt has never been. i can't wait to see the look on her face when she sees the castle. :wizard:

<---22 days and counting!

We are going in 5 days and i get that way several times a day! Our kids are so excited. But I think my DH and I are more excited than they are. NONE of us have ever been. So we have no idea what to expect. I cant wait!!!

I agree...the expectation alone is killing me! Today we got in the mail the Disney sweatshirts I ordered for them. Even the 17 year old was dancing around the living room! I am thanking the heavens every day for letting me be able to take this trip with them!

Have Loads of Fun and Try and ENJOY It! It can become very very overwhelming, so don't get frazzled, NO ONE can possibly do it all in one trip to WDW !
Heck,I have been 3 times and still have tons I want to see & do !!!
My sister, who is 42 years old, cried our last night during the Fantasmic Show just knowing that it was our last night at WDW. I got teary eyed too!
It is a hard place to leave!!
HAVE A WONDERFUL FABULOUS TIME !!! :wave2: :wizard:

You are definatley not crazy! I get teary eyed when I look back at our pictures from last November. It is the most magical place in the world! We planned our next trip on the plane ride home. We will be returning in November of 2006 - we are counting the days!

Hope you have a great trip and enjoy every minute of it!

Kelly you are not crazy!! You are a great Mom who feels the excitement for your kids. Enjoy it all!! Don't rush take time out to just be there with your family, like a previous poster said you can't do everything in one trip! :sunny:

Hello, kellyg403! You are not alone. Our trip is a year away, but we are discussing it and getting more excited every day. I hope your DD princess: has the birthday of a lifetime @WDW. Have a wonderful time!
