Please dont shoot me for asking Im just curious.

How does disney even know that all their so cal AP holders are from so cal? I mean, what if you buy a pass online and use the zip code of a relative who does live in so cal? Im sure they make them show proof of residency when they pick up the pass dont they?

Something like that? Anyone know?

Im just wondering if the huge number of so cal pass holders are really from so cal.

They know because the jump in AP from 65,000 to 1,000,000 coincided with the "Payment Plan" option available only to zip codes 90000-93999, and they have to send the bill somewhere... At least that's what I hear! ;)

Some people (a very very tiny number, I hope and guess) might use a relative's zip code to get a So Cal pass - how would we know the answer? My understanding is that sometimes people have been asked to show ID with the correct zip code, but not always.

therre are always people who try to get around the rules.

They asked for my license when they took my picture ID.

Agreed. Like I say, I was just curious since the number of so cal AP holders seems to be more than they anticipated. Was just wondering if peeps outside of so cal had somehow gotten those.

I'm not a fan of S. CA APs ~ I think there only needs to be one maybe 2 types of AP, they should get rid of the S. CA APs or offer them to anyone who's OK with the blockout dates.

Agreed...that or have three. 1 PAP. 1 with block out dates, and 1 for ANY CA resident like WDW does?!?!? :cool1:

It's very frustrating to see the amazing deals So Cal residents get that us No Cal people don't qualify for!! Why is that? What could be the reasoning?

It gives the SoCal "locals" kind of a feeling of inclusion. Makes us feel special, LOL. It's a sociological tool, and it's obviously working well for DLR!

Also, they probably want to make sure that those visiting who are not close enough for day trips either spend more on the premium passes and/or multiple-day park tickets, plus they spend more on lodging. From San Diego, I'm more likely to just spend a few hours there since I can go up during the week. If I lived in Sacramento, I wouldn't be able to do that, so I'd have to spend more days there to make it worth my while. The longer I'm there, the more I spend.

Even getting our Deluxe passes they needed to see our IDs before taking our pictures. They need to know where to send the renewal notices. :)

Sounds like we need fake IDs with a S. cal address! ha ha ha :rotfl2: !!!! I am totally kidding...but it is funny to think about this useage of a fake ID! :)!!!!

I absolutely agree that Nor Cal residents should get an AP option. I really think it sucks that we don't get anything like that. As to the original ? when we got our first APs the CM at the ticket booth wanted us to get So Cal APs but we didn't have any proof of residency, you do have to have that. An ID or a bill of some sort, she said it had to be something along the lines of an electric bill to prove residency. I did ask if the girls' Dad could buy them So Cal APs (he lives in Long Beach) and they said yes he could but we would need at the minimum Deluxe so we just went with Deluxe all around that time.

I always thought it was unfair that the discount only applied to Socal and not all of CA. I believe WDW offers a discount for all people who live in the state, not just one half of it. However, even if I lived in SoCal, I wouldn't want those APs anyway. In fact, I could see that as further justification to get the premium! :rotfl:

It irks me to no end that Northern California residents get squat and you can be a resident of Baja Mexico and get a discount!! Why is this?

Well we would certainly be happier with the So Cal APs over NO APS (which is what we have now). But I would also be super excited to be able to do monthly payments on my PAP. :)
