Can it just be attributed to people who took the initial buy in and decided DVC wasn't for them? The points are all various amounts, but they could've bought in at any amount equal or over the minimum buy in which they all seem to be at 150 or above. Did they offer enough incentives initially where a resale today would be strictly done for profit?... I wouldn't think so.

Is this normal, Will we see this many resales at AKV next year?

There will always be more SSR resales because there are more SSR owners than any other group. SSR is the largest DVC of them all, although when AKV is done, it sounds like it might be close.

Another probability -
The current SSR incentives thru Disney are very good - $94 per point, additional Developer Points (# of DP depends upon new vs add-on, and also # of points purchased,) full contract (not stripped,) low closing costs for new, no closing costs for add-on, etc.
The resales have to be really really good to compete. I think that after the Disney incentives go back to fewer perks, more SSR resales will sell.

1. It's the largest resort.

2. DVC's direct pricing right now is pretty competitive. Due to a special incentive, those buying 225 points or more can get a $94 price PLUS a one-time grant of 160 Developer's Points. That effectively brings the net price down into the neighborhood of resale pricing.

3. It's one of only two resorts for which resale is in direct compeition with DVC's direct sales. If you want BWV or BCV points, pretty much the only avenue available is resale. But if you want SSR, you can go either resale or direct. Many people buy direct, which means right now it takes longer to move SSR contracts on the resale market. Reduced demand creates a backlog. That situation will change when DVC is no longer selling SSR points.

4. Although DVC is still selling points at SSR, it has been available for over 4 years now. People selling aren't simply those who had an immediate change of heart. Over a 3-4 year period it's undeniable that many who buy will have personal or financial issues which may fuel the need to sell their DVC points.
