Just curious, why did I get a $4.xx refund from DCL before cruise?

Cruise in September. PIF already. I have a four dollar and change credit this morning from DCL. Change in port fees or gas prices or something?

I also bought Rainforest passes via the gift phone number a few months ago. Those are my only two financial transactions with DCL ever.

Probably port fees

Reduction in taxes or port fees. Can be as little as a couple of $, or it can be more.

i always find it a bonus. last month i found 3 x 17.62 left on gift cards that should have been 0. it is from three cabins last october. i had paid some of the cruise costs by gift card and that is where they chose to refund it. np, i can spend it. :)

We received one also yesterday for our Hawaiian Cruise in Sept. it was about $23.

How do you all know before hand? I've only ever known when I check my on board account and it is on there. Maybe mine were refunded closer to the cruise so they just issue and on board credit???

You do not know until it turns up on your credit card. It refunds your credit card not stateroom account, personally I would prefer that.

But I've had two occasions where there was a -$$ amount on my on board account when we arrived and it would be one for each person in the room. And my party in other rooms had the same -$$ amount on theirs. So there must be some occasion where they don't refund to the credit card.

Maybe they couldn't the card had expired or there was another issue mine have all been credited to my credit card but I would prefer a credit to my on board AC. Nowadays I have a USA credit card but before using a UK one I lost on exchange rates.

Whatever the reason it was a nice little surprise. I see what you mean that's really sucks.

I only knew because they sent me an email yesterday, that said cruise confirmation. I was like huh? Its paid in full why a confirmation and I scrolled all the way down and they had a new total price for the cruise and then the $23 credit at the bottom of the email.

I had to call to find out why I had a credit(reduced taxes); it would have been nice to have had an email when it was posted so I didn't have to go through the lengthy phone tree.

You could spend more on the call than the refund.

We are going on a 3 night cruise September 11th and I received an email last week with an $8 and some change reduction in price. I hadn't PIF at the time so they just adjusted the PIF amount. Now that we are PIF, I'm assuming if there was to be anymore reductions in price it would be refunded as OBC? Which I know the likelihood of the price dropping is very low.

My $80 odd came last month way after the PIF.

You won't get a refund for reduction in the general cruise fare. Only for taxes, port fees or other administrative costs.
