I was just wondering how many of the parents out there really plan what their kids wear to the parks. Do you put them in Disney clothing for the whole trip? My DD's have some really cute outfits with princesses on them, but they also have really nice casual clothes too. I feel like I am thinking about this too much, but I was just wondering what everyone else does.

For us, ds wears some Disney clothes and some regular clothes. Dd likes wearing nearly all Disney clothes. She even dresses in Disney clothes at home all of the time! I wear about 1/2 Disney and 1/2 regular. Dh might wear a couple of Disney shirts on our trip.

I have some new Disney shirts set aside for our next trip. We're fortunate to live near a Disney Store, and I stocked up when shirts were on sale for $4.99. I like to match shirts to the occasion when possible. For example, the kids have Stitch shirts to wear to Ohana's breakfast.

I may be flamed for this, but my kids have no Disney clothes. They have no character clothes of any type. They wear their regular clothes. Now, they will most likely wear character themed underwear as they have plenty of those. I on the other hand, have more than enough Disney t-shirts for vacation.

Our familly (DH, myself, DD11, & DS8) wear matching Disney t-shirts with black or blue shorts each day of our 8 or 9 day trips.

We've got sweatshirts, long-sleeved t-shirts, & about 8 matching sets of short sleeved shirts. Most are from Disneyshopping.com.

I think the matching outfits look great in our pictures & it makes it much easier for us to keep track of each other in the parks.

what I did when we went .... they each had one Disney T-shirt for each day we were at WDW and they went with what ever activity we had planed... Bk with Pooh, dinner with Cinnderella etc... BUT when we went to MVMCP they just wore their x-mas shirts.
I think this way they wont ask you for t-shirts while you are down there and you have to pay full price. When You can get them on sale for $4.99 at the Disney store.

We have done both. The first trip, I didn't have anything Dinsey. I got more and more into these boards and throught it was a good idea, so I bought some matching Disney t-shirts for my kids before the second trip. It was cute in pictures. Since I have boys though, only one of them was really into Disney character shirts and so after the trip he was the only one that wore them. On our third trip, I didn't buy any Disney t-shirts. The one boy who still likes them, was able to wear some of the ones from the previous trip. I personally don't wear Disney t-shirts. I bought some from the Disney store and I just don't think they are comfortable. I am not sure if it is the cut of the shirt or the blend of fabric. They feel itchy and hot to me and too high around the neck. I have decided a Disney trip is expensive enough without buying clothes if you don't need to. If you need more t-shirts great, if not I wouldn't purchase more for the sake of matching.

Our family pretty much wears Disney clothes at WDW. DH will not dress this way at home, and DS would not be caught dead in his Disney stuff at home but there we love it. I too buy the 4.99 t-shirt and we all have a couple sweat shirts. Most times we add a new shirt while we are there. We go winter so t-shirt, jeans and a few sweats and we are set. We are doing a nicer resturant this trip so we might add one nice non disney outfit. We do however have disney polo shirts so might just wear those.

I feel like there is already too much going on to plan so specifically what everyone will wear by the trip. My four year old will refuse to wear something simply because I want him to wear it. As long as he isn't dressed for the arctic or running around in underwear I could care less. It makes my life easier to let him choose.

Keep in mind depending on what time of year you are visiting that your family will most likely resemble a hot disheveled sweaty mess by the end of the day anyway. Therefore if you are going to plan wardrobe so carefully I would suggest whatever keeps you cool and comfortable over what type of characters or if everyone matches.

Looking at last year's photo's, I decided we looked like a bunch of orphans so this year (in Sept.- 52 more days WooHoo!) I bought on DisneyShpping.com the matching blue mickey surfer camp shirts/ dresses for me and DD2. They ere expensive but I justify it for the photopass picture will go into our Christmas cards this year! We also have stashed away, CARS t-shirts and swimtrunks for the boys. Whatever. I also found some outfits at Cosco with princesses on them-which are everywhere. I'm working on lime green matching t-shirts for us to wear one day hoping a DISboards family will recognize us! :thumbsup2

My DH wont let me match the kids. He says they are not twins, dont try to dress them that way! So I found a loop hole!!! I get clothes for the boys that are not the same but coordinate with each other. I got some REALLY cute ones at Kmart! There is one outfit that is pooh and the other is tigger, but they share the same colors. He cant say I put them in the same clothes, but it will look great in pictures. He doesnt even know it yet!!!! Surprise on him HEHE :rotfl2:

I'm just jealous that some of you have kids who will actually allow you to dress them in matching outfits, cute Disney stuff, etc. :p My child would throw a tantrum large enough for the whole world to hear if I suggested he wear bright happy colors or anything matching somebody else. Heck, he pretty much does this if I suggest he wear anything that he didn't pick out himself.

DD has a couple of princess costumes from Halloween and one Cinderella outfit I found on eBay. I probably will buy her a t-shirt she can wear at some time in the week. And I have a Mickey baseball hat. That's it for us. DD will wear cute, matching clothes with coordinating hair accessories though because that's the way she is. Even her panties have to match :rotfl:

I saw lime green Lacoste dresses and polo shirts in the window of a local children's boutique here. The first thought out of my head was if a DISer would have those on their kids at Disney World.

The only thing we "match" is rain ponchos, so that we can find one another in a different color that the one sold at the parks. As for clothing, my criteria is comfort in the heat, and quick drying when clothing gets wet on rides.

I don't buy screen-printed things, though I will buy embroidered clothing if the price is reasonable. Lately WDW hasn't been doing too many embroidered items, so we don't have much. DH is the only one who regularly wears Disney-themed items; he likes their "stealth" neckties, the ones where you really have to look to see the mickeys.

I pack all our clothes in colors that I can wash together in laundry. I usually do 2 loads of laundry when at disney. I do a white load and a colored load. We all wear khaki shorts with shirts that are light colored that wont run onto the khaki shorts.

I got my DD3 a few cute items from the Disney Store's back to school stuff and their Cinderella stuff-- last fall they had that big Cindy promotional push and there were some cute things. So she had a few special Cindy outifts to wear, but other than that I just packed the best of what was left from summer that fit her (and wasn't stained!)
She acquired a new tshirt there which she wore on the plane home, and which she will most likely wear on this year's trip if it still fits.
I think I will take her to the Disney store to pick out one "special" outfit to take with us. Depending on what she picks, she'll wear it for our last park evening or to Cinderella's gala Feast. She is most likely to pick a dress of some kind, so I am guessing she'll be wearing it to the Gala Feast at GF.

Last year my MIL got her a Lilo outfit and she wore it to the Spirit of Aloha. It still fits, and we are going to the show again so she'll wear it again. I just got a GREAT hibiscus print dress for myself on ebay to wear to the show and I am going to get her a waikiki Mickey dress from Disneyshopping.com outlet for when we eat at O'Hana's. (4.99!)

She will be receiving an Aurora dress as a birthday gift for wearing to the PPTea. Whichever princess she chooses to be for Halloween this year (its a dead heat between Jasmine and Belle right now) will be what she wears to CRT-- although the pictures of her with Cindy at CRT in her Cindy costume from last year were absolutely gorgeous. But this is childhood, not a photo shoot, so if she wants to be Cindy-- great-- otherwise she'll get to visit CRT as a Princess to be Named Later.

As to what *we* wear-- I pack my nicest casual clothes. I like the pictures to be nice, and I like the feeling of occassion that comes from wearing a put together outfit. When we go to a beach house or camping, well, I am Mrs Tank Top and Cutoffs-- but at Disney I like to dress up a little bit. My DH wears the best of his tshirts (I glean what I can from his pile leaving at home all paint stains and bleach spots! ;) )and khaki shorts and for our TS dinners he usually wears golf shirts or rayon button-up shirts with nicer khaki shorts.

We are all hat wearers, too-- really helps with the heat and the sunburns! :sunny:

I had never given a thought about what the kids would wear. Figured they'd just pack and wear whatever they felt like, as they do every day.

Then I read some of the threads on this board! :disrocks:

I asked the kids if they would like to wear matching or coordinating clothes on the trip and they thought it was a neat idea! They don't have a whole lot that matches but I think they all have t-shirts that they got from Girl Scout camp and the like.

We don't have any Disney clothes though.

Last year I bought all of us matching Disney outfits for pictures and hopes of a Disney trip. We get our pics done at Olan Mills in Kmart.

DH said "I don't really have to wear that walking through Kmart do I?" I said "well honey we could go to the picture people and you could walk through the whole mall, its your choice". Our kmart pictures turned out great!

DD and I are doing a mom/daughter trip in Sept and yep, I've got ours ready to go. Infact she asked about wearing it the other day and I said no we are saving it for Disney. Yikes.

She loves dresses and wearing mostly Disney princess clothes. She has a bunch of princess costumes but I did get her a Cinderella costume for one of the tinkerbell gifts. I also bought her a new Ariel dress for another tinkerbell gift.

So to stop rambling, she'll wear mostly disney clothing on the trip! I'll wear the one outfit but normal clothes after that.

Wow!! So many great replies. DD's are 6 & 3 and are into matching. I figure I better do it now while they agree. I do it for Easter & Christmas and other times too. I just thougt it would be neat to have matching or coordinating outfits at Disney. I like to coordinate with them too sometimes and I think it will make great pictures. I have mickey outfits for Chef Mickey's & Princess outfits for Epcot princess breakfast. Now I just need to get DH on board & get him to match a few times too. We have not been to WDW for 3 years and we are going first week of Oct. I am ready to start packing now - I just can't stand it!!!! :cheer2:

Well heres an idea, do the packing yourself. Pack just what you want them to wear. Let the tantrum thrower pick for the day, then match around that. If that is all there is to wear, the choices are get dressed......or stay at the hotel I guess.
Not that I would make it a huge fight, just say......I'm sorry, thats all I packed, I didnt know. Next time we will bring something else.
