Just curious- does DH help

He only helps when I ask. As much as I would love a He-man to swoop in and do all of the heavy-lifting for me, my husband dated a staunch women's libber for three years before we met and she scared the chivalry right out of him.

I keep telling him that I am not her. Just because I can do something doesn't mean I want to do something. :thumbsup2

DH will help if I ask him, although often with stipulations, ie, when it is half-time or commercial (which doesn't work with frozen foods or meats in the south about 8 months of the year). Often he somehow doesn't hear my request for help until I have carried in the last bag:confused3.

I shop daily. Mostly I do it during the day, so I don't expect help.

If my husband has come to the grocery store with me, then he insists on carrying everything back (we're walking distance). I always bring him shopping when I've got a lot of groceries to pick up! But when he gets to the front door, then he expects me to carry most of it the rest of the way to the kitchen while he gets his boots unlaced. He'll carry the rest once his boots are off.

I don't have to ask.

I am a sahm so i tend to shop when he is at work. He will shop with me sometimes on weekends so we both unload and he puts away . He seems to enjoy putting it away lol.

My now exdh would have done so without asking. However, if he flat out said NO, I would flat out say NO to a lot of things he wanted as well. :rotfl2:

Lets just say an arguement over helping bring groceries in the house resulted in my DH getting beamed in the head with a flip flop!!!

As soon as I pull in the driveway DH is outside. In the winter, I may make it to the door with the first few bags by the time he gets his boots on but he brings in the rest.

I have never asked him to help me carry anything in. He just does it. I can't imagine him complaining or refusing if I asked him to help me with anything ever. :confused3

If he goes shopping, I always offer to help him carry in the bags but he usually gets them all in one trip. I do help put everything away. He knows where things go, but I'm faster.

Sometimes he will come get the groceries out, especially if I went to the store with one or both of the kids, one of us will get the kids and one will get the groceries.

When it comes to putting them away, he'll do the refrigeratables, but usually leaves the pantry stuff to me, since I know how I like my pantry.

We are not married but I will answer just the same. We do a big grocery shop every two weeks. He drives me about 45 minutes away to the grocery store I want to go to. We save more than half our bill driving that far. We take coolers to put the cold stuff in. Then we go to some other stores on the way home. I make lists for each store though. Grocery shopping is an event in my house. It takes half of Saturday to accomplish. I save a ton though! I spend about 350 for a family of three adults, teen boy, toddler girl. Three meals a day plus snacks. So worth the extra time it takes. I also refuse to eat much junk so it is healthy food we are eating.
Anyway, he carries in the coolers when we get home and DS and my father carry in the bags of groceries. I carry in DD. :rotfl: Then we all put it away. Boyfriend and I separate and label meat for meals before putting it away too. Just about everything we do is done together or a shared responsibility.

My DH does as much if not more around the house than I do. He even irons my clothes for me. We work together and are togther 24/7. We share all the household chores. And he does the floors too. I've got it good. I think he's earned a

I'm still giggling :)

I always do the shopping alone and I do my best to time it so that I am getting home w/ the groceries when I know DH will be home.. if he is home, he carries them in. DH not only automatically carries in the bags, but I generally hear "the whistle" when he see's my car pull in.. that's the sound that the boys (10 and 8) can hear from ANYWHERE in the house or neighborhood, and it means "get your bottom here NOW to help your mom or I". and they have learned the defination of NOW is really NOW not "in a minute!"

other day @ MIL's my oldest suddenly stood up and walked to the door. I asked what he was doing and he said Grandma's back from the store so I'm going to get her bags... ahh.. I was such a proud mommy right then! I hope my future DIL's appreciate all the effort we are putting into our boys now!!!

I call him when I'm about a minute from the house and he comes out when I pull into the garage. He and DS help me bring in the bags and also help me unload. I use reusable bags so even with a huge shopping trip, I never have more than six bags, it's much easier to unload than with plastic bags.

I plan the meals and shop for the meals; DH (and DS) carry in the groceries.

If I asked DH would come out and help. Sometimes he will just come out and help unload. However I do not expect him to. I figure I can handle the groceries at least right now fine by myself hehe

Not only does my husband help bring in the groceries, but he apologizes if for some reason he didn't hear me come in with them. He's a keeper.

Mine does most of the shopping even when I do go with him he loads them in car on windy day I might have to hold the cart for him. Once home I might carry a bag in but he brings all the others to the kitchen door sits them inside door an I put most away the freezer is his tho cause he can get more in there than I can.
