Just curious about pool hopping perk?

Do you flash your membership card at the pool or your hotel key and membership card? Are you allowed to use your points for a VB stay, and later book a cash room at POR and still hop to GF? I would think you could only hop when using your points during a stay. But I don't know.

You can only pool hop while staying on your DVC points. Your room key will say DVC member on it which is what allows you to pool hop. (Although I have never thought it was worth the bother LOL!)

AFAIK, VB is not included in the pool hopping perk. The official policy listed on the Members' Website doesn't mention it - it only talks about WDW resorts.
