We were in WDW last week. We flew into Orlando on Sat. 9/8. Spent Sun. 9/9 at Kennedy Space Center, Mon. 9/9 at DisneyQuest and Downtown Disney. We were at Blizzard Beach on Tuesday when the parks closed down. We had heard about the initial attack before we went to the park, but not about everything that was to follow. We were able to continue with our plans for dinner at Boma on Tues. nite, but with very sad and worried hearts. DH's twin brother works in a building within a few hundred yards from the WTC, and his younger brother was taking a class in the area as well. His neice goes to shhool in DC, and was right near the Pentagon. It was 2 days before we were able to get through and find out that all are safe. We went to Epcot and MK on Wed to celebrate our 1st anniversary, but as soon as we got back to our hotel Wed night we started talking about coming home. We decided to drive, and it's a good thing we did since Midway Airline is out of business! We left Orlando mid day Thurs, and took 3 days to get home, as we stopped to see my sister in VA along the way. The most remarkable things about the drive home were the # of Florida cars driving north, and the huge # of flags we saw along the way. It's good to be safely back home. We were so grateful that we were able to get here!
Yesterday we went to our local Six Flags since it was only about 15 min from where we had to return our rental car and while we were there someone scratched a swastika into the back of DH's car
Some welcome home that was! He went today to get that fixed. It never ceases to amaze me the things that some people will do.
Now all I have to do is to catch up with everything here.
