Pre-trip report http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2612840 (with pics of snake and fallen tree)

Murphy's Law continued to plague us.

As we were leaving for our trip, DH got a call from work that his co-worker was in Texas and needed him to cover his shift for him on Mon, Dec 13th. He told his partner that it doesn't really fit with our plans either, because we are trying to get a way for a few days. A call back later, find's another pharmacist who will cover the evening shift but will be arriving an hour and a half late. We decide to take 2 cars.

Our plan for check in day, was to go to church, check in and head to our ADR at Frace. That got changed a bit when we got a phone call from friends to meet them on Sunday after we check in. We were going to meet them for lunch and shopping. We head to church. The sky is beautiful and sunny at home. We get to church and the sky is turning dark. It begins to rain, and I CAN'T find the umbrellas! It was the last thing I put my car!

By the time church is over, it is now raining at a nice pace, and the temperature is starting to drop. Our plan was to quick check in then head to Epcot to Le Chefs de France for our lunch ADR at 2.

For online check-in, there was a spot for special requests. I requested 1st floor and near transportation. We head to the online check in area, and are amazed that the line is small, but the entire lobby of All Star Movies is packed with people who didn't use the online check in. The CM asks me if Fantasia is acceptable to me. She points to the Jack-in-the box on the map and I say that's fantastic! It's near parking and it's near the food court!! We are in business!!

Then we head over to that building and realize that the number for our room is NOT the building she pointed to on the map. We are the building across from that. Our room is not first floor, instead it's 3rd floor. We go searching for the room, and we walk and walk. Before we know it, we are almost at Herbie! The parking lot is NOT close by. And we are the furthest in Fantasia from the Food court. Muphy's Law, I tell you!!!

Our friends met us at the food court, before we could unpack the cars. They wanted turkey dinner, but apparently that is only on the dinner menu not lunch. So we all decide to head to Cici's pizza on 192 at Magic Mining. By this time the rain was just a fine mist and nothing to slow us down.

Much to our surprise, our friends decided to take us to property control shopping!! AHA!! A victory for us, a defeat for old Murphy! After that was a very successful shopping trip at DTD!! That's 2 for us, Murphy, you better watch out!

After shopping at DTD more friends met up with us at All Star Movies. Spent some time with them. Unpacked the car. It was just after 8pm and we were in for the night! All nice and toasty in our resort room, while temperatures plummeted outside.

We thought we were going to get a good night's sleep, but Murphy's Law was back and struck with a vengence. Youngest ds had a bunch of small seizures. And the oldest was awake every hour or so with bad pains in his leg. Begging me to rub his leg, because that was the only thing that seemed to relieve the pain.

6am came way too quickly. DH was headed to work. Oldest ds slept til 11, then decided he needed a doctor. Took him to the Walgreen's Care Clinic and they sent us to urgent care because he needed an x-ray.

We were hungry by this time, so stopped for a taco at Taco Bell. On the way out of Taco Bell, Murphy struck again. This time oldest ds couldn't walk. And youngest ds needed a toilet immediately!! Unlocked the car, oldest ds slowly walked to car, as youngest ds and I ran back into Taco Bell.

Found out insurance won't cover the urgent care that was across the street from Cross Roads, so headed back home to our urgent care that is affiliated with our doctor.

The wait at the urgent care was crazy long. 2 hours to be seen. Then sent for x-ray. Wait at x-ray, then sent back to the urgent care waiting room.

I had one small sandwhich back filled with legos for the youngest, but he was totally bored of these by this time. We began playing simon says, and totally embarrassed the oldest ds. Moved on to I-spy. Even sang some Christmas songs. Oldest ds tried to pretend he didn't know us.

Finally youngest ds was all out of energy. Laid his head on my lap. And for the first time all day he was quiet. Until...in walks DH. Who...according to Murphy's Law, left his coat at work. Soooo...one of us had to go back to work and get his coat. We decided he would stay with the oldest ds, and I would take the youngest back home, and they would meet us there afterwards.

The x-ray showed nothing. The doc said probably tendonitis. To take it easy for a few days. Take some naprosyn, and come back in a week if not any better.

It was getting late. I decided to get out the lasagna I had made a couple days before. We all ate supper, then headed back to Disney. We debated about taking 1 or 2 cars back to Disney. But after today, decided we had better take 2 cars.

The youngest and I arrived at All Star Movies Resort and parked. No sign of dh or ds in sight. I called to find out where they were. Dh said he made a wrong turn, they'd be there in about 30 minutes. I guess Murphey messes with sense of direction too?

It was bedtime by the time they got to the room. An entire Disney day wasted! We all slept like logs. Except I woke up at 4am to youngest ds having a focal seizure. I was able to talk him down from it and it didn't last long. Fell back to sleep, to be woken up at 6am to give youngest ds his seizure meds.

Dh and oldest ds were planning on going bass fishing at East Lake Fish Camp, but it was 27 degrees outside! The bass would never bite. The crazy fisherman, decided to drive to St. Augustine to fish. Leaving ds and I to enjoy Disney in the freezing temps! I think Murphy new about the planned fishing day and decided to make it the coldest day of that week!!

Ds was really showing signs of being post-ictal. Our car was parked too far away for him to walk. He legs were very weak. (When dh and ds were taking the scenic route to Disney the night before, I asked them to bring the stroller to the room, just in case.) I am so glad we had that stroller!

Between being post-ictal and the behavioral issues from his brain lesion, he was becoming easily "spooked" by sounds and light. He was hungry and wanted to pizza, apples and fries. I had an ADR for The Grand Floridian Cafe. I debated between taking him to the foodcourt for something or driving over to the GF. Decided to keep the ADR.

We arrived at the GF right at our ADR time, so I went with valet parking instead of self-park. Anxiety instantly hit ds. This was different than other times we went to the GF. Step by step, I had to explain to ds why I was giving the car key to a stranger. Why this stranger was taking his stroller out of the car. He gave the valet instructions about not touching his toys in his booster seat. He told him how each one is just where it belongs and he really wants to keep it that way! He even has empty gum wrappers and other things in his cup holder of his booster, that he has organized in a particular way.

The valet wasn't really listening to him. He was more interested in talking sports with me. Which is ironic because I don't follow any sports. However, I was wearing my oldest son's Philadelphia Flyer's coat. He was telling me how excited I should be that the Phillies signed on a new pitcher. I gave him a tip, he said he'd stop talking sports with me, lol, and we headed indoors.

Entering the GF had an immediate calming effect on ds. The music and the lighting were soothing to him. It was as if I had a totally different person with me.

My ADR was for all 4 of us, so I needed to tell them we were down to just us 2. However, just as the cm asked my name, a man rudely butted in and asked where he was on the list. She went into the computer told him she didn't see anyone by that name there. He was holding a buzzer, so obviously he should have been in there. However, she went and asked him all his info and typed it in. Gave him an additional buzzer. Then returned back to me. Gave me a buzzer, and sent me away. I didn't even get to tell her it was the two of us and no food allergies.

Turned out the man who was rude, his first buzzer was under his wife's first name instead of their last name.

Here is where the magic begins...and Murphy begin's to fade

We waiting near the DVC booth. That cm gave ds a Mickey button for the new Hawaii DVC resort. Then he pulled out a roll of Disney stickers and asked ds which of those was his favorite character? Ds picked Stitch. He unrolled a whole bunch of stickers and gave them to him. He was so happy! And our buzzer was going off!!! Time to be seated!

We were seated, and ds had already decided back in the room what he wanted for lunch, so I had to quick look at the menu and decide. It was a tough decision. I went with two appetizers, the crab cakes and mixed green with strawberries and almonds. Thought this was going to be an easy order. I should have known better, with Murphy still nearby!

The server asked ds what he wanted. He told her, pizza, fries, and apple slices. She told me he can't have that. The pizza comes with apple slices and carrots and celery. I said he doesn't like carrots and celery, can't he have french fries instead. She said no. And suggested that he could get what he wants with a build a menu. She pointed to it on the kids menu, said you can substitute fries with that side. So we looked at that side, and she asked him what he wanted. He said pizza, fries and apple slices. All items that were listed on the kid's menu, but apparently she was not liking his combination. So I told her, however it can be done that he can get a pizza, fries and apple slices would be great! If i have to pay for fries extra that's fine. Just to make sure he got the 3 things he wanted to eat. She wasn't happy with me, at all, for substituting fries for the carrots and celery. I could have caved in about the fries, but then I would have had a huge meltdown on my hands, because I had already told him in the room, I would get him those items for lunch.

My crab cakes were amazing. They were the largest appetizer crab cakes I have ever had on Disney property! The were incredible! So far my favorite Disney crab cake! The salad was huge. I ate about a third of it and was full between the crab cakes and that.

DS loved the pizza, fries and apples. I had to cut off the skin from the apple, because he gagged and did a spit take on the first bite. He is use to the skin off at McDonalds or home! Those were the juiciest apples ever. I was cutting the skin off and juice was splattering. Ds thought it was so funny, until one spray splashed his cheek.

For dessert, ds wanted a dole whip. We decided we'd wait until they got back from fishing to go and get a dole whip.

Heading out of the resort, there was hot cider and chestnuts! Ds has never had hot cider. I had to explain to him what it was. He loved it!! The cup was nice and hot and felt great while we waited for valet service to bring up the car. How nice it was on this frigid day to have a nice warm car brought right to us! The parking was free with tables in wonderland!

DS was tired so we headed back to our resort to rest. Is there such a thing as rest with a 6 year old?

Mousekeeping hadn't been there yet that day. I debated whether to start putting together his new lego or not. Debated whether or not to put the "do not disturb" sign out.

Peeped out the door. No mousekeeper cart nearby. So didn't bother with the disturb sign.

In the meantime, frozen dh and ds called that they would be back to the resort in about an hour.

I pulled up the bedding, and ds and I had dumped all 300 some pieces of his lego on the bed. We bagan separating all the pieces into like categories to help find them.

Just as we finished...knock...knock..knock...as Murphy would have it, mousekeeping was here! The mousekeeper asked if we would be leaving the room. I said, "no," showing him the legos we were working on. He went about his business, opening both curtains first, and ds jumped up periodicially like popcorn checking on what that or this noise was coming from the mousekeeper. He made the other bed, then asked again if he could make the bed we were doing the legos on. When I said no, he picked up the phone, typed in some code, hung up, cleaned the bathroom, got us fresh towels, and asked if we wanted the floor vaccuumed. We said no, thanked him and gave him a tip.

Back to the Lego building...for the record, Lego doesn't give me detailed enough instructions on how to piece together legos. I constantly had to ask ds if this piece went this way or that? Several times, he had to take my work apart and fix it for me... he is 6! Just as we got the last piece together...Murphy! Frozen dh and ds walked in the door from St. Augustine.

Oldest ds jumped in the hot shower, then jumped into bed, saying he was done for the day. He was too cold and too tired to do anything. He said if he needed to eat, he'd go to the food court and get himself something. Youngest ds remember that I had said we'd get dessert of a dole whip when Daddy came home. No time for Dad to warm up!! It's dole whip time!!

FUnny thing about a 6 year old, they don't forget things when you promise them. Hope DH got a chance to warm up and de-fishey himself first. Do you live in Orlando or near by?

We drove from ASMo to the TTC. Walked to the Poly, and got a Dole Whip. Dh made a monster dole whip, so much whip in such a little cup!! I went to the kiosk to order ds supper too. As Murphy would have it, I picked the WRONG kiosk. No matter how I touched it, it didn't want to work right. Another man came and used another kiosk and his gave him no problem. I continued to struggle with mine. Eventually it registered my choices. (Maybe my fingers were too cold?? I was freezing!) In no time it was grilled cheese sandwich and dole whip time!

There was just enough time to squeeze in some Magic Kingdom before the park closed for MVMCP. Magic was on our side this time. The monorail was there instantly upon our arrival!

Amazing! A hoard of people everywhere! They queued those for the party over to the right and the few of us not for the party to the left. We got right in!! Main Street USA was packed. We headed first to the TTA. No line!!! Walked right up and into a car!! Next stop Toon Town, and again, it's very difficult to maneuver through people. Get to the Barnstormer, and it's EMPTY!! Oh yeah!! There is still time if we can make it through the masses to Buzz Lightyear. And Murphy must have gone on vacataion, because we made it!! Got off Buzz and headed back into the masses to get out of the park, but not before stopping for the only pictures I took on the trip!

We don't live in Orlando, but we live in central Florida! Our 6 year old is very serious about his sweets! He'd never forget an opportunity for dole whip!

The oldest ds didn't walk to the food court to eat. He waited for us and we all walked over together. ASMo has THE BEST guacamole!!! I didn't try the New Guacamole burger, but the boys and I did get quesadillas!!

That darn Murphy followed me to the food court. DH wanted the turkey dinner. The rest of us wanted quesadillas. The line for what we wanted was huge, his was small. So I sent the oldest dh in line to get the quesadillas. I went for the turkey. DH and ds went to a table to play with legos.

Oh, I forgot to mention! Ds was so proud of the Star Wars lego ship we put together that he carried it everywhere that night. It went with us for a dole whip, to MK, and now to the food court!

I got in line to pay for dh's food when I got a text. DS needed out of his line pronto, he had to use the restroom!! Come on! You can't tell me a teenager didn't think about this before getting in a long line? He had to wait, dh's food was hot. Paid for the food. Relieved ds from line duty. By the time he got back in line, it still wasn't our time to order...yet. But dh needed 2 more chairs, he had a table with 2 chairs only. So I sent ds to go find 2 chairs for them.

When it did get to me, there was one quesadilla sitting there, under the light. The cheese looked like it was sitting there for a while, it was beginning to look dry, and the edged of the quesadilla were cracking apart. The cm asked if I mind giving it to the girl behind me, since she only ordered 1 and I'm waiting for two. Murphy thought he had me! He thought he'd make me wait longer. Well, guess what, Murphy! I prefer fresh made food over sitting out and drying food, anyday!

The wait was LONG. I think they might have been chasing the chicken first. People ordering burgers were in and out of the line in no time. As I stood and stood, and stood and stood. Eventually ds comes back to see where I am in line. He goes to turn away, and I make him stay with me. Good thing I did!!!

I'm so vertically challenged that there is no way I was tall enough to get the food from the CM at the angle they were handing it out from the area where their sour cream, salsa, and guacamole were. He came at just the right time! I no sooner pulled him back in line with me, and the quesadilla was ready! I couldn't wait for the guacamole!! And the girl dips her scooper, and I get...the most pathetic scoop in the world. So small it looked like a pea. So I asked for guacamole in a container for ds, who hates guacamole and wouldn't eat his food if an ounce even touched his! And the cm gives him this GIANT scoop! He had to have 4 ounces of guacamole there! I was in guacamole heaven!!

Headed back to the room after eating. Packed. Called it a night. Decided to meet friends for shopping at 11am at DTD and to eat lunch at Earl of Sandwich.

The 6am medicine alarm went off. We had a night with no seizures!! We all get ready. Packed the car, with no hitches. Got ready to leave the room, when Murphy struck yet again! This time is was oldest ds. All of the sudden he got all red, and he said his skin felt like he was being poked from the inside out! He couldn't get out of his clothing soon enough and into the shower. After a very long shower, he got dressed and ready to head out again. His skin felt fine. We were ready to go!

We got to DTD at 10am. We were meeting friends at 11. Headed to the Lego Store for youngest ds. Oldest and I went to WOD shopping. We had a great quick shopping trip. Met up to say hello and chat to our friends for a bit. Then headed to Earl of Sandwich. Murphy!! We were there super early. It couldn't have been opened for long and the line was out the door! Dh had to get to work by 2, so we knew we had to grab a bite to eat on the road somewhere. Bummer!

We stopped at an Arby's. It's a good thing oldest ds ordered 5 items off the menu, because this Arby's does not have napkins sitting out. In fact, they have a rule that you can only have 1 napkin per item ordered. We had 11 items so we had 11 napkins! Boy can a 6 year old be messy with ketchup!

We got home with just enough time to unpack the cars and for dh to get dressed for work and head out! Our vacation was over.

We did get the Dole whip, and got shopping twice for Christmas presents. We didn't get much park time, didn't see PUSH, and we didn't get that annual picture in front of the Yaht Club's Christmas tree. Today is a new day, with a new beginning. We are hopeful that Murphy will stay out of our way today. We are heading back to Disney. Braving the crowd levels of 10. Our goal today is to get that annual picture, see the Christmas parade at MK, visit with PUSH, get in a ride or two, and head back home, satisfied that we did it!! That we win and Murphy loses!

Yay! Michelle! I'm glad that you won out :) We were at Disneyland yesterday but your pictures of YOUR castle make me so want to head out to Florida. Merry Christmas to you!!

December 23, Dh had the day off, so we decided a do-over was in order. Good always wins over evil, the heroes over the villians. This was our day and we were seizing it in victory! We were going to get up early and head to the MK!

DS went to bed on the 22nd and began having small seizures. We knew that the 23rd was not going to go the way we planned. We didn't know if we were going to get to Disney or not. It all depended on how ds was feeling and what he was up to. Some days he is very post ichtal and spends the day resting, other days, you would never even know he had a seizure, he feels great and goes about his day as if nothing ever happened.

He woke up at 10am remembering about going to Disney. He was upset that we'd be late. He insisted he had to wear "fancy" clothing for pictures. In no time, we were out the door. We stopped for fast food on the way to Disney. We knew we were going to have to use the stroller as a wheel chair, because he said his legs felt weak. But he was happy and said he felt great and couldn't wait to see PUSH!!
