Just cancelled

Sorry to hear that and yes, our choice has nothing to do with the re-instating of the mask mandate. My wife has medical issues and her mom is a high-risk for COVID. We are all vaccinated here so that helps. But it is a very hard call. We are thinking about calling MS and maybe a little pixie dust. We are thinking of if there was some availability of going to Hilton Head. I know still people but not 50th anniversary WDW crowds. Lots to think over and not much time to do it.

Have you thought about keeping your reservation and then renting it out as a confirmed reservation? I am new to DVC and still learning about all the options.

I thought about renting out my GV at BWV OCT 16 to 22 before I cancelled. I just didn't want to deal with renters if they change their minds as we get closer.

Already gone. Either someone got very lucky or the waitlist grabbed them.

Sorry you had to cancel. We're planning a trip for October and I am also considering cancelling. But I'm not quite there yet.
We're in the same boat. Treehouse Villa 10/11-10/18. I figure we'll regroup in a week or 2 and hash it out.

New member to the board but a 10-year DVC owner. We have been over the last week or two thinking about canceling our trip. We have celebrated our 10th and 15th wedding anniversary at WDW and the plan is to have our 20th there the end of Sept. That also falls so that we would be there for 10/1. (We were there for the 40th and 45th as well).

If we cancel the points are going down the drain. Our bank window closes tomorrow but we have banked all the points we can so that really does not matter since we canceled last year's trip that we planned. Not really sure what to do right now. But we have to do something soon that is for sure.
RCI?

If renting directly on these boards do you have to honor change requests? Can't you just stipulate all sales are final?

Mike, I have never done that. I have rented on here a lot and I have always help if issues came up. I have made changes for renters and because of that all my renters keep coming back.
I will now just rent some of the points out for next year.

We just cancelled our November trip. We previously cancelled last November. Maybe next November??? We are also looking to cancel next February, but we are going to hold off for awhile. We have had APs since last January, our first ones ever purchased. We had looked forward for years to going to WDW after my retirement and using APs for three week-long trips. I've been retired over a year now, and it doesn't look like it's going to happen in the foreseeable future. I want WDW to be about freedom when I go. Maybe one day.

Good news is we booked HHI for November, and that's where I would rather go anyway!

Totally understandable. I am doing the same. I was thinking more about issuing a refund for a cancelled trip outside of the 30 day window. Rescheduling within the limits of the rules is easy and doesn't cost anything.

Just canceled our October trip. Had a great fun trip recently, despite everything, but until things become more normal in terms of staffing, park entertainment/show options, fastpass options, Typhoon Lagoon being open and hopefully a different Covid situation (meaning less or no mask requirements), plus more, we will hold off on anymore trips.

Would love it if more people cancelled because of mask-phobia. Went last year in early October when masks were mandated everywhere and had an amazing trip. Semi-thin crowds this year would be great, though definitely not planning on it. Good luck out there everyone!

Happy to cancel. Hope you return the favor when the “no-mask phobia” returns ;)

Typhoon Lagoon is the best!

Definitely. Summer 2020 was the best with the super light crowds (and $25 for Chef Mickey's)! I'll never get that opportunity again other than blind luck or an upcharge event.

I certainly don't blame anyone for cancelling right now. It's true that Disney is still trying to build up their staffing to an adequate level and that several things are still not open yet to entertain crowds because of this. I'm the type of person that doesn't mind wearing a mask in whatever situation dictates it, but I definitely get it... wearing a mask sucks.... doubly so in Florida.

With that said, it's not unbearable at the parks right now. Crowds definitely aren't low, but can be a bit deceiving considering lower staffing and closed attractions here and there. My best advice if you're going is pay the subscription fee to purchase the Lines app from Touring Plans. We found last week that the posted wait times for most attractions were heavily inflated. TP did a decent job of tipping us off as to what the real wait time would be. There were several attractions we rode that we otherwise wouldn't have touched at all if we went by the posted wait times.

Same. We have cancelled our trip 4 times since 2020. It's scheduled for December now. Highest COVID rates in the country are currently down south. My health is worth more for sure than a very magical disney vacay. I am assuming that we will have to move it again. When I do there will be a value one bedroom in AKL up for grabs! Will keep people posted!

I am holding on to my BCV resie for end of November. However I am getting more & more concerned with Canada 🇨🇦 to US border not reopening between now and then given current trending.

We don´t plan to cancel our Oct 27 - Nov 3 trip; we will lose too many points. We have only one day planned in the parks, so it shouldn´t be too bad with masks.
