Just called to check for a FD code...

I might very well be wrong, but I speculate the FD this year will be from August 16-October 1. From what I understand, where you stay may also influence what "type" of DDP you get: if you stay at a value, you get the QS only, if you stay at a moderate or deluxe, you'll get the regular DDP. This is for US residents.

Again, I might be wrong on this and this may have already been stated (and I apologize for being redundant if so!) , but based on previous years and what offers are currently on the table for UK residents, this is what I speculate.

I would have totally gone with that theory, until the bounceback people got the regular dining plan, and the pin codes also.
Not to mention the economy, and bookings being down.
They gave the regular dining plan away when times were good, and now things are tight.

So, I think that it's going to be regular dining. My educated guess also.

regardless, I am anxious to hear if they will do it again, and if it will be extended as I have read that happened last year I believe (we travel Nov 12th)

I believe the extension last year was for Disney Visa holders only, but it would be great if they did it again! I am all for everyone getting a good deal! :wizard:

I just recently signed up for a Disney Visa and have not received it in the mail yet. If Disney offers FD to Visa card holders will they send me something with my statement or by e-mail? We are going in August and trying to hold out for the FD.

I have always gotten the code here on the DIS long before Disney Visa sent me an email.

Last September Disney Destinations sent out some emails that offered free dining pin codes for very select dates in October, November and December. The only December dates were December 14 - 20. If you checked in by the 20th you could get the free dining offer through the 31st. These emails were random, not for the general public, and the codes were non-transferrable. About two weeks after that, Disney Visa sent out a free dining code for their card holders for the same select dates in October, November and December. Those pin codes were not part of the regular Fall Dining promotion and there was no general public fd code offered for any of those dates.

We usually travel to Disney during a time of year when there are never offers. This year to celebrate my DD's birthday we will be there the end of August and I thought it would be great to finally get the free dining. But now I'm not so sure.........the stress of the waiting is killing me!!!!! Is it like this every year?

You just wait......It gets REAL interesting around the boards whenever it's Free dining Time! :rolleyes1

I personally love the excitement of it. The rumors, speculations and debates.

In the end though most DISer's that WANT free dining GET it. They may not get the resort they want and they may have to be flexible with dates but it's usually a fun time for all! :cheer2:

Happy Planning!!:goodvibes

There IS a lot of hype around free dining time! I guess that's what Disney likes. I'm curious though....does it really end up being a better deal than the 7 for 4 deal for most people? :confused3 FD would only save us about $100 a day since its 2 adults and 1 child, and the 7 for 4 deal saves us about 43% on the room. If you stay in a deluxe resort, that's a lot of savings.

I guess it just depends on your situation, but I'd almost prefer to see the 7 for 4 extended.

..as FD is the only way we'll be visiting the Mouse House in 2009. popcorn::

C'mon Free Dining! Momma needs to see the Mouse. :cool1:

We have 2 parents and 3 teens - which equals 5 adults. Free Dining saves us about $1,400. We stay in 2 rooms at a Value.

I think you've put your thumb on the situation:
Free dining is better at Value Resorts.
Considering that in Value Season (when FD is offered) the Value resorts are around 82.50 before tax,
if you have 2 adults you'd have to get your room at a Value for free to beat that deal.

We have seven kids, and now will have to have 3 rooms.
We stay at a Value Resort.
Free Dining is a SUPER deal for us.
It costs a LOT to feed 9 people.

Holding out hope that they'll come through for us once again! :wizard:

Actually POR is the cheapest way to do free dining for my bunch. Two value rooms is around $165(plus tax) a night and POR is around $149(plus tax) a night. The Dining plan cost us $170/day, so I save more than the price of a night at the resort.

This year we are staying for 13 nights and saving $2,210 with Free Dining!!!!!
