I certainly think there are times, places and accomodations that require day by day calling, but for most ressies, I don't bother to do that. I only use day by day when I am looking for a GV during October or December.

30 minutes IS NOT normal.

When we became members in 1995, 20 to 25 minute waits were typical. Wait times gradually decreased to where they are now when I seldom wait more than 3 or 4 minutes. Overall I'm very pleased with MS. I would however, be happy to pay higher annual dues for extended MS hours.

Just for the record, I did hang up and call again. The message did indeed say 30 minutes.

I gave up the ghost and will try again today.

Calling day by day is absolutely necessary to assure getting a reservation for your first choice of dates and room category for some times of the year - especially at the BWV!

Me too.

If I hadn't called day by day for my 7 nights in a 2br Dec 1-8 I would NOT have gotten it. I saw people posting that they couldn't get those days just a day or two later. If I had waited until the 8th I would have been SOOL.

And besides - MS bends over backwards to accomodate day-by-day callers. Not a problem to them apparently. It's not at all against the rules or out of line to call day by day. It's something we can and will and should do when we need to. And the key words are "when we need to".

Calling Day-By-Day certainly is your choice and only you determine whether you should do it or not. I for one would never be critical of individuals who choose to do this. You pay your dues and are entitled to call MS as often as you desire. No need to defend your actions...no need to be sorry.

FYI in the 50 or so reservations we've made since becoming members only once did we call Day-By-Day. It was for a GV at OKW and I didn't want to risk not getting the days I needed.
