Just bought tent trailer

We just bought a 2000 Santa Fe and are thinking of going to Fort Wilderness next August. We want to go to the parks also. We are looking at coming in on a Sunday or Monday and staying for 6 nights. I was looking at getting a 4 day park hopper pass. Any suggestions? Is it cheaper to do a package through Disney or does anyone have any other suggestions. I have never been to Disney and we promised my boys (7 yo twins) when they were six that we would go when they turned 8.

Congrats on the camper, my family loves to camp at FW. You said you were going next August, do you have AC in your pop-up? you will definitely need it.
As to the question about park hoppers or a package, it really depends on how many days you want to spend in the parks, are you going to do any water parks? are you going to do your own cooking or eat out every day? You can always price a disney package on their website and then compare the costs. I can tell you that for my family the package was always more than buying everything separate.

We've never used it, but from what I've read, adding the dining feature to your tickets seems to save some families a lot of money. I guess it all depends on how many meals you plan on eating in the parks.

We have the same pop up! We took it to FW for a week in April and had a great time. I did a lot of research here on the DIS about the campground. Our kids were 2 &5. They loved it!

We used AAA for our package, because we wanted to add the dining plan and that was the only way to get a (small) discount. The dining plan isn't perfect (see the restaurants board & dining plan subsection) but it worked very well for us and is a good value.

4 days should be enough for the parks. We also really enjoy the water parks so we added that option to our passes. Disney resort guests were able to go in 1 hour before the general public and it was worth it to do that.

Make sure to plan for a day or two just to spend around the campground. There is plenty to do. We find that spending a full day in a park is really exhausting (especially in Aug.). We live near Disney and go over quite a bit. When we've had family in town and had to spend two back-to-back days in the parks with young children we were really surprised at how tired we were. We are used to popping in to the parks to hit a few rides. Plan some down-time in between days at the park.
