Hoorah! Have just booked a trip for 2-11 January, staying at Saratoga Springs with free dining. This is a new resort for us and we've never done DP before so really looking forward to a new Disney experience! Have left booking quite late - only decided yesterday to go! Unfortunately it means I'm a bit behind the times with dining reservations but I've done OK - just hoping to get a BoG cancellation!

Excited!

Congrats! The planning is part of the excitement for me, and you don't have too long to wait either. Fingers crossed you can get a BOG reservation before you go...

Congrats.. we booked on Sunday, like you, SSR is a new resort for us and we haven't done Dining Plan before either.....

Get your planning hat on and lose yourself in the mad Disney and DIS world.

Cool! Really excited! When do you go? I'm going to be spending far too much time loitering on the DISboards!

We stayed at SSR last visit it is beautiful. Try the Turf Club its onsite and I had the prime rib- best steak I've ever had followed it with an espresso chocolate tart. I ate it all, although I didn't eat anything till the following night!the staff were nice too.

Which building did you stay in? I think we are going to request Grandstand (more to do with the bus stop than anything else!) how did you find the buses? We've stayed at the Contemporary before so have had the luxury of walking to MK!

We did 3 weeks at SSR last yr and loved the place so much we have booked again for next may!
We was in springs originally but then had a huge flood in our room coming through the wall from the bath that we had not used yet so they moved us to the Paddock section,
We overlooked the pool on the 3rd floor it was amazing! I could watch the kids play in the pool with daddy while I rested :)

Buses was great! I was worried due to the size of the resort but they came every 10 mins an if it was longer then they would call one in.

We love the Paddock area too! Great pool area with bar and convenient bus stop.

We have requested the same room again hoping that we will get somewhere around that section as we thought it was great to fill our mugs with only having to go down some steps :) plus the food from the paddock bar was really good too!

We'll be able to fill you in when we get back then!

Thanks, I'll be quizzing you incessantly lol !!!!

We were thinking of trying for a room in the Springs section so as to be close to the Turf Club bar and Artists Palette ... Any negatives to this section anyone ? Failing that probably Paddock seems to be popular .

Have you looked at the SSR lovers thread? It seems to have a list of pros & cons for each area. The main reason we are going to ask for grandstand is that it seems to be first pick up and drop of for buses.

Nothing wrong with the springs that I can think of,
Springs pool is great has a nice slide, movies are played on the big screen by the spring pool, bus stop is just opposite the pool, great distance to the artist palette etc for the QS options and the drinks dispenser.

Some great info on that thread, especially the pros & cons section.

We are also staying at SSR for 3 weeks arriving at the end of May and have requested the Springs Section. From what I could gather The Paddock and Grandstand also seemed appealing.

Our room was 5747 . Cant remember which area this was but you might be able to tell looking at resort map.our balcony looked straight onto bridge that crossed the lake to go to the main pool, shops etc. right next to a quiet pool and hot tub, laundry and bus stop. Found the buses were great we never waited more than 10 min.
