Just booked WL for April. Courtyard view?

What will a courtyard view consist of? I don't really care, as I'm getting a decent rate and it was our only choice for my requested dates - but I wonder anyway.

Why it's of the lovely inner courtyard of course. The hotel makes a "C" around it's river, waterfall, and pool. This area faces out to the lake. We just got back from WL in December. We loved it.

Sadly, some posters have said a view of the next-door Villas is also a "courtyard" view now. I am staying at WL next week, and by golly, if they give me a villa view, I am FIGHTING it!!! I want my pool view with a balcony!!! Of course, if they refuse me, I am not sure what I can do about it! I am just hoping for once, I get my request and all will be good!.

You are correct, the area facing the villa pool is also considered courtyard. (Not all courtyards are equal). Before the villas were built it was woods view. Double check when you check in by having the CM show you on the map. The nice part of the villa courtyard is you can zip down the stairs in be right at the villa pool and hot tub and you are close to the bus stops. Every location has it's perks. However I've had the center courtyard view and the view is great, but the door openned up to the center lobby which could be noisey at times, especially at WCC. Pros and Cons for every location.

Its true that a courtyard view can be that of the villas, however when you call to make your request ask them if you can request an INNER courtyard view. (keeping in mind that a request is just that a request). Say that you would like to be able to see the main pool and bay lake if poosible.The 4th and 5th floor inner courtyard views are really beautiful. You take your cup or coffee (or beverage of choice depending on what time it is ) and sit on the balcony. It really is a beautiful hotel. You will enjoy it.

This is what has kept me from booking at WL in the past. My husband and I spend alot of time in our room relaxing and the view is important to us. If I paid that kind of money for coutyard and ended up looking at the villas, I would be very disappointed.

I really wish Disney would restructure their view categories so that they could guarantee more rooms types, rather than just make them requests. (i.e courtyard actually means courtyard, pool means pool, and water means of a real body of water and not a fountain). Guests are paying a whole lot of money just to cross their fingers and hope for a good view...but maybe Im just a control freak.

Note that rooms facing the inner courtyard end in odd numbers - keep that in mind since the map they will give you at checkin won't indicate precisely which side of the building you're on. If they don't give you an odd-numbered room push the room card/key back at them. And don't rely on them giving you a direct answer to a direct question about the view - just remember you want an odd-numbered room.

No, you've hit the nail on the head. After our last experience I think I'd downgrade to woods view or POR/POFQ rather than rely on good luck at the checkin desk.
