Great to see this thread.

We are travelling in June with our kids and Sis and bro in law. I had to phone up Virgin to request a bulkhead for my infant and because we are a large party the guy at Virgin said he would also request seats in the bubble for us all (as bulkheads are done at the airport and there is definitely no guarantee).

I didn't even know that the bubble had economy seats so was happy for him to request them as thought it might be less turbulent up there, (especially as my sister has a fear of flying).

but now im worried that you have all being saying how wonderful and quiet it is up there and here I am, going to go there with two young kids if I don't get the bulkhead seats at twilight checkin at gatwick. Is that really bad should I try and get seats downstairs as not to disturb the people in the bubble.

The virgin guy said it would be the best place for us to try and get.
Would be great to get your thoughts.

Are you flying economy? If so there are no bulkheads in the bubble for economy. There is an exit row but the bulk heads are in the PE section.

Being the bubble makes no difference to turbulence I am afraid and it is also more confined that the main cabin on the lower deck. If you have young kids who may want to walk about you might be better downstairs.

We have traveled in the bubble many times when DD was small however it was only PE up there then and the aisle used to be extra wide.

Might be nice for the return flight though - as the service will be finished quicker so lights will go off sooner and the fact it is quiet might help your little ones sleep.
