I can't wait to go, I am so looking forward to staying there again! We got a Bay View for $149.00 a night for 3 nights. Probably not the best deal, but I don't care, I love Universal Studios and just staying onsite makes it worth every penny! :)

I assume I can check in that morning? We arrive at MCO at 10:30 in the morning and we are going right to Universal. Can we get our keys and head to the parks then?

Thanks!

I think $149 a night for PBH is a good price, hope u have a great time

We checked in a 9 and our rooms were ready. Even so you can get your keys if they are not.

How did you get such a great rate? We check in to PBH in Feb and our rate is $273 per night! I have called several times checking for the fan club rate or entertainment rate but no luck.

:wizard: What on earth kind of magic spell did you cast to get that kind of a rate?? For a months and months I have been looking everywhere... and I mean EVERYWHERE, for a decent rate. The ABSOLUTE lowest rate I could find at all at Universal is $169 at Royal Pacific Hotel - for a standard room.

If you would please, please share your remarkable find, and how you received that rate, I'd be ever so appreciative. I'm in total shock.

:earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

My Dad booked the rooms for us (besides my family we are going with my parents and my SIL and her husband). Dad is an AP holder, belongs to AARP and AAA, so maybe it was one of those? I just tried calling my Dad to ask him, but there is no answer. I will let you know though, I didn't realize it was a good rate! LOL

I will try to call him in an hour or so and ask him. :)

I thought this would get a lot of interest its really a great rate

Okay, I just talked to my Dad and he said that he called and asked about rates and the woman (Diane was her name) said that a standard room was $179.00 per night. My Dad then said, "I am an AP holder, does that lower the price?" and she said, "Yes, I can give you the room for $149.00 per night". That was it.

Maybe it depends on who you talk to?? Sorry, wish I could tell you more, but that is exactly how he got the rate.

:)

That just doesn't make sense, but who cares??? lol Enjoy the fabulous rate! I was willing to buy an AP to help lower my costs, but wach time I called, they all told me the same thing: that the AP rate only brought the price (for me!) of a PBH bay view room in January to $269 or something like that. It wasn't worth it.

But congrats to you, and have a wonderful time!!!

Great rate for PBH! It's a beautiful hotel. Have fun!!

Just curious. I'm re-reading your thread, and in one post you mention that yuo have a bay view, and in the follow-up post you mention that you have a standard room. I'm curious to know exactly what kind of room it is - bay or standard.

But regardless, it doesn't matter - the rate is FABULOUS for both!!! One caveat... the price is SO great (almost better than a plain standard room at RPH - the cheapest hotel) that I'm almost worried that your father might have heard $149 and it's really $249. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your sake that it's not, but an analogy would be like getting a Cadillac for the price of a Saturn.

It's like you won the lotto!!!!! :cheer2:

I have got the Portofino for Feb with an annual pass at $149 per night. It is stilll showing available if you input APH on the form. This rate has been available for some weeks now.

TracyK...which form are you referring to? Is it the Universal website, or the Loews website? Thanks :D

:confused3 I went on the Loews website and the Universal Studios website (which essentially comes up as the same thing when you begin to look at rates) and I popped in my dates and the dates that were previously mentioned, and I made sure to include the APH code. And the lowest price that is coming up at Portofino is $224 for a queen garden room.

I, too, would love to know what website and I would like to know step by step, precisely what you folks did to see that rate come up. I don't mean to be such a pain in the you know what, but it's just so annoying that I was quoted $269 as the absolutel lowest price with any promotion for a king bay view room.

(sigh) It's just been my luck.

U know my wife is always getting the Portifino mixed up with Royal Pacfic it be that some people may have booked RPR and not PBH just a thought

I have a bay view room at the Portofino for February 17th @ $149 for the night. I have looked again today and this rate is still available and has been for weeks. Perhaps your dates aren't included. I went through the Universal website then clicked the link for the hotel booking page.

Hi!
In my first post I did say that we had a Bay view, then in the follow up I said that the person at Portofino Bay FIRST said that a standard room was 179.00, but with an AP, we could get it for 149.00. What I forgot to mention was that after all was said and done, we thought we were getting a standard room, but she told my Dad that she has us in a Bay view room instead! :) Sorry about that confusion!

So it is a Bay View room at Portofino Bay with 2 Queen beds for $149.00 per night! :) I am so excited and can't wait to go! We are going with my SIL and her husband who have never been to Universal Studios or Disney World!!

Well, with Tracy's help, I figured out what's going on. Apparently, it's all about the dates. If I put in that I am arriving on January 7th, then it comes up as $264 or whatever. But if I pop in a date that is three days earlier, then the rate is indeed $149. The 7th is a Friday, and being that it's a weekend, I'm sure that's why the fluctuation in rates.

Still, I am STEAMED that the same room is over $100 more per night when it's booked three days later. The season (value/etc) doesn't change as far as I am aware. Yeah, it's all clear now. But it makes me even MADDER to know this. I amost wish I didn't find out, because I just feel like that they are ripping people off. I know, I know... demand and all that. But it's no different than the gas stations hiking up the prices .20 just because it's a holiday weekend. It may be commerce, and it may be legal, but it's certainly not right. It's called price gouging.

:worried:

Well that stinks!! I am sorry that you couldn't get the same rate!! :( When we first started looking online it was quoting prices around 249.00 per night! I was thinking there was no way we would be able to afford that! It's too bad that they couldn't just give you the 149.00 since that is the price a few days before you arrive!

I just now saw that you said "I'm almost worried that your father might have heard $149 and it's really $249." I have the email from them that states it is in fact $149.

Its the same here in the UK at weekends though at conference hotels I have got really good deals here but at universal they have mon-fri the conferences
and at the wekend the parks but good on the ones who managed the good rates
