Hey everyone!

My father works for Disney's security department and actually wrote the curriculum that is used for the Character Aides in training. His curriculum is being taught in every Disney park in the World. It's really exciting and most people I talk to about it don't understand the significance :)

As part of the job, he even got to dress up as the Bear from 'A Song of the South' one day and roam the park! Who knows, my dad may have been the one inside that suit the day you were at the park. He taught me the dance that the bear has to do when he's standing in the park, and I have the 'autograph instructions sheet' sitting on my desk right now!

He also got to meet the "real" Darth Maul before the Jedi Experience opened to the public and got to learn the Jedi moves firsthand. I think it was during the training period for the current Maul, or it was during the auditions for the different characters. It is truly a dream job for him to work with all of those people, and I'm glad my dad still gets to have a little fun now and then.

We (meaning my family of 6- 2 adults, 2 teens, and 2 kids) were pleased to hear that there are some AWESOME perks included with this job; We get free passes to any of the Disney park and are getting a great discount on a disney resort.

I am going to be in Anaheim from February 15th-17th, which is a really short visit, but good for a first time to WDL! I've been to WDW as a little girl, and now that I'm older, I'm ready to visit WDL ;)

A little bird told me that I may get to have lunch with a character or two or go behind the scenes, just like my dad does when he's in WDL!!!

Just wanted to introduce myself, since I'll probably post here frequently until our big trip!

Hi Chelsey,

Welcome to the DIS! Thanks for sharing the cool trivia on your dad. How cool is that. :)

Have fun exploring our corner of the DIS, and moreso when you visit the Disneyland Resort (DLR). :flower:

Welcome! Sounds like a fun job.

I will be at DL the same time as you will with my oldest DS (14). My DS is competing at the DL World of Martial Arts competition at the convention center on the 15th, then we'll play on the 16th, and he gets to be in the parade at CA Adventure on the 17th (at least we've been told the competitors get to participate in the parade, but who knows when we'll get the details on it).

We were just there in Nov. but my family has so much fun there that they could go all the time and still enjoy it!

Hope you have fun and be sure to tell us all about it! :goodvibes

It helps with the Disney withdrawl symptoms, especially for us in the snow covered northern parts....hahahaha

Hi Chelsea.

As you are beginning your education about Disneyland then more people here will know what you mean when you call it DLR. DLR stands for Disneyland Resort, the official name. :)

"DL" stands for Disneyland, which is one of the two parks at DLR. Also included in DLR is DTD (DownTown Disney) and the three Disney hotels.
