Welcome to the board! And, I hope you enjoy your trip to the Fort so much that you give up on those hotels and make FW your permanent DIS-home!

Spend some time here and you will learn all you need to know to plan your trip and make the best of it!

COOL !! You get to go to the Fort last month !!
no,,wait, that can't be right,,let me think this one out.

In the meantime, WELCOME !

Make sure you give yourself enough time to explore all the varied options at The Fort. The kids will love the main pool at The Meadows and the area around the horse barns. The MK fireworks as seen from the beach and then the Electric Boat Parade are special. If you can, bring bikes. It is a wonderful place to bicycle. :thumbsup2

Thank you for the welcome !

We are Locals and are planning a Day in MK - then typhoon laggon and relaxing and exploring the campground and enjoying what it has to offer :)

Our older daughter has lost some her "thrill" in Disney Parks ( oh the horror)- so a good comprimise is to make sure there is a definete balence between parks and down time.

We made the leap into tent camping this past spring with a trip to Lion Country Safari after my daughter said "anything BUT Disney" and finding out all the cabins were booked...so went crazy and said " why not tent camp?"

I had been to LCS as a child so often and I loved it. I was sooo nervous about if my family would like it - if it was still everything in my memory - if my husband and kids would like tent camping. The trip went GREAT and everyone loved it. So much so its on the agenda for 2010 :)

As well as a camping trip to Fort DeSoto.

We've been trying to save for a nice PoRiverside stay when I thought... OMG Why not camp at Disney !! ( :sad2: what took me so long to figure that out :confused3)

Its great considering we have a basic start to gear ( omg some of the pics of your sites are amazing :) ) and the camp site is a great price to try out disney camping. I am sure we will all love it.

I am finding instead of a 'big trip" to plan and save for - Camping just opens SOOO many doors for us to enjoy time as a family. Local trips and time together - no 100+ per night hotel rooms or a large budget for food or tickets. We can just go camping and have some fun without breaking the bank. With the tent and basics paid for - it comes down to site cost and gas and packing some food!!

I LOVE the possiblities and fun camping gives us - what even better - is how much my family is now in love with it as well. 1 camp trip and we're all hooked and looking forward to a new year of camping and exploring :)

Now my problem is I am debating on wether to book a " pre " camp trip for May - I am so excited I keep coming with reason on why this would be a great idea.

"we could get the "lay of the land" so to speak - so on the Nov trip ...we know where stuff is

" we could get all the kinks worked out..see what we need and don't need for the nov trip"

"It's May...who doesnt like a nice camping trip in May??"

We stayed in the 1500 "partial" loop. It was right near The Meadows area and has it's own bus stop. It is within walking distance of the pool, campfire/movie, Meadows Trading Post. Lots of scheduled activities for the kids in the same area. Even if you didn't step foot in the parks, you'd have a great time.

To work some of the bugs out, try camping in your back yard. Go through the making of your check list, put the stuff together, then set up in the yard as if you are at some destination and picking up needed items would be a pain... an overnighter or weekend "home-camping" oughta help you line things up for a smooth stay out on the road.

Adjust your check list as needed!

two items I like to keep on my list,,
1. fishing pole
2.beer/kungaloosh

always at least keep the kungaloosh recipe with you.:thumbsup2
