Just booked our first Discovery Cove adventure!

Hi everyone!

I am beyond excited right now. I just booked a day at Discovery Cove to spend with my 6 year daughter and my mom. Poor DH has to stay home and work this trip.

My mom and I decided since this is a once in a lifetime kind of adventure we rented a cabana to get all the fun extras. Has anyone else had a cabana? Can we bring lunch back to the cabana? Are there cabana attendants that can get you more drinks, etc.?

Also, when I was looking at pictures on the website everyone seems to be wearing matching wetsuit tops. Do you have to wear those? Do you have to wear life jackets when snorkeling or on the lazy river?

You do not have to wear a full wetsuit, but you do have to at least wear a swim vest, it's the same material as the wetsuit but just like a jacket, I know you had to wear it when swimming with the dolphins but I can't remember for sure if you had to wear it in the other pools.

We chose to wear the short wetsuits, they have short sleeves and are board short length, because the water in all of the salt water pools is 72 degrees and it gets to be pretty chilly if you are in there for a while.

Sorry I don't know anything about the cabana's, but I'm sure they will be wonderful and that you'll have a terrific time.

We rented one for our June trip and got one of the celebration packages so we could rent the cabana early Well worth it since we will have DD 20mo with us and my mom and her can go and relax in some shade with a fan.

You can eat at the Cabana and they do have some pictures out on the web that shows ppl eating their lunch there Can't wait!

We booked our first trip in June too. I'm so super excited. I've wanted to swim with the dolphins forever. We booked the premium package so we could have the cabana.

Yes, you have to wear either a wetsuit or the vest anytime you are in the water. It's for safety. Not a flotation device, but so the lifeguards can see you and know you are a DC guest.

You don't have to wear life jackets unless you, or your child, have problems swimming. The salt water will make everyone more buoyant.

My daughter was 8 on our first trip. I had her wear her life jacket most of the time. Last trip, she was 11, no jacket, she loved being able to swim to the bottom in the lazy river.
