Just booked our DisneyWorld Vacation!!!

Yay! Am so excited, have just booked our last hotel for the trip (Disney!!). We will be off for a month in total and will be visiting New Orleans, New York, DisneyWorld, Orlando, LA and Hawaii. I cannot wait!!! We will be staying in Disney for 10 nights because that is the main reason for the trip! Any tips for any of these locations please share

congratulations that is amazing.

we've been to nyc and we've stayed at universal studios in orlando, so i can definitely share some stuff about those locations, but for wdw and hawaii and LA and new orleans, the others on here will be awesome at helping you out.

that trip you're planning is like my dream vacation. you're hitting up all the really, really good spots in america that's how our last trip started out, then got whittled down to disneyland, nyc, universal studios orlando, and vegas. we ended up cutting out wdw, hawaii and LA & new orleans i cannot wait to see your pre trip planning and your TR when you come back

Thanks we are going to have an amazing time!! It is all of our first time overseas and we are not going to leave out anything!! I just can't wait! We were going to take out Hawaii and add New Orleans due to the cost of the extra flight but our travel agent found them both for the same price, then we had to make the big decision.....which one? We had to decide on the spot, then she turned around and put in both for only an extra $600 so then it was decided BOTH!!!

That's wonderful news. I've got some NYC tips but WDW I'll leave to the more experienced crew on here.

New Orleans is the only place I wish we had've gone to on our trips. I'm really keen to hear about your trip there so make sure to capture lots of images and share lots of your story.

I loved New Orleans! We spent a week there on our honeymoon. Some of my favorites are the swamp boat tours (kids would love it too), Cafe du Monde and the beignets (they often have a strolling sax player), and the trolley tour. We love shopping at the open air French Market and watching the boats on the river. Don't miss Preservation Hall - a lot of history there. My suggestion is to teach the kids about it before you go, it will mean more when you get there - but that goes for all of the places you are going, it's hard to take it all in at the last minute!

Thanks for the wonderful advice! New Orleans looks like it is shaping up to be mine and DH's favourite leg of the trip. Now for us to look up all of the history, I am so embarrased I'm not even sure what Preservation Hall is. I have been teaching the kids/ watching documentaries on Hurricane Katrina and we plan to visit the ninth ward while we are there. The swamp boat tour is a must for us and now we just have to look up all the rest! Did you go on a plantation tour?

Would love some tips on NYC, we are there for 4 nights and still have to work out the itinerary for there! I will hopefully be able to figure out how to make a trip report or blog to share with everyone!! Lot's of photos and videos will definantly be captured!

Thanks, I am having so much fun planning! I think that by the time the trip comes around though I would have driven myself crazy with the amount of time I spend on the computer looking at our trip!

Well, it was when I was a youngun, it was my first trip as an adult.. 15 years ago actually! I'm not sure how much NO has changed since then, I'm guessing a lot with Katrina and everything. Read up as much as you can and pick out what will be most interesting to you and your family.

As for WDW, well we were COMPLETELY overwhelmed by the size and amount of things to do there. Two of us (it was me and two girlfriends) had been to Disneyland in our teens, and we knew that WDW was bigger, but it really is huge. Even with ten days there you won't be able to see and do everything - although you will cover a lot - so again, planning is the key. You are already on the right track if you've found your way here

Hawaii on the way home was our rest week. We'd gotten on each others' nerves a bit and were tired and a bit homesick by then so we spent a lot of time just chilling out. We went to the Polynesian Cultural Centre, did an island circle bus thing and a luau, but that was about it.
