Just Booked My First Solo Trip

well when are you going?
Last Mar I spent 3 days solo while a friend and her DD were at a cheering competition. Flew down and back with them, they joined me after my 3rd night.
This April Im taking my first solo vacation! flying solo, staying 7nights solo, dining and playing solo
So when are you going? which resort? have you made your ARs?

and Happy Birthday!

in Nov Im returning for my 2nd week solo - will be celebrating my 50th - hopefully w/my "men in skirts"!

I'm going in early August. Changes in the school calendar for next year make it possible to actually go during my birthday month for the first time since I started teaching.

Planning on doing on the things my family would complain about doing.

Working on my list today, will post later.

that's awesome! you'll have a great time. i'm looking forward to my upcoming solo trip, which will be my second trip on my own.

Solo trips are amazing.

There is *nothing* like a solo trip. I've done it on a number of vacations and have always loved it.

Though I love sharing Disney with the people special to me, they, as I'm sure so many on the DIS can relate, don't understand or love it the way I do. I can't count the number of times I've heard, "But you're going ALONE? And AGAIN?" For the most part, I've stopped trying to explain it. I just nod happily and say, with a dreamy sigh, "Yeah."

Have a fantastic time!

Yep...ME TOO !!! ;)

I've been going solo for about 10 yrs. now and absolutely "Love IT" !!
People just don't understand why I would/can go for 7+ days ...ALONE:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

89 more sleeps till May 1st ...and yes a (milestone) "birthday" trip too !!! :thumbsup2

I have to agree with all of you. Going solo is a great way to experience the world. I am a theme park junkie and although my wife likes to visit the parks, spending a week is not her idea of an ideal vacation. However, she figures if I was going to go alone anywhere, at least she doesn't have to worry about anything other than me being captured by a yeti or having a heart attack on a roller coaster (I will be found with a smile, that is for sure). I went last year for a week in May and it was great. I thought I would postpone another trip for a couple of years but no...going back in May again.

Have fun!

I will be staying at the POP for the first time. DH, DS 14 and DD11 stayed at AS Music this past Christmas and it was great.

DH doesn't want to go back for a couple of years but I do. I grew up in SC and went twice a year for most of my childhood and usually once a year when my older daughters now 28 and 22 were growing up. But since moving to TX I have only been twice in 8 yrs.

DH has a boat that he loves like I love Disney - I know HARD to understand.
But he completely supports me going solo even twice a year cause it's cheaper than his boat payment and that makes everybody happy!

Anyway, I can make my ADR's next week and so I was planning them today. I will do an O'hanna breakfast for sure as it is my very favorite. I also want to do Teppanuaki (sp?) I will do one of the Fantasmic dinner packages - I am deciding between Hollywood and Vine (which I have done before) and Mama Melrose's which I have not.

Has anyone done CRT alone? I am considering going there for breakfast for my birthday. Opinions would be appreciated.

Haven't done CRT alone...yet, but am doing CP, 1st thing and looking foward to having the park pretty much alone and taking wonderful pics of the castle that morning!!

OHannas sounds great for breakfast, haven't done that...don't forget the wonderful pina colladas at the bar:rotfl: OOPPPSS..guess not for breakfast:rotfl:

Oh... so much to do...so little time:faint: :faint:

This was one of the reasons I went solo to begin with. The people I usually went with never wanted to do a tour. So one year I booked a 10 day trip at BWV solo and did 6 of the tours , almost every other day I had one . It was great. That trip got me hooked ! thankfully :-)

Well, I took my first solo last year at Halloween, and I had a blast!! Lets see, doing whatever i wanted, when and where.... HUM.... and I only had to ask where "I" wanted to go!!! YIPPEE!!! As a matter of fact i'm planning my next solo trip!!

Have lots of fun!!

Happy Birthday!!!

Thanks for all the positive posts on going solo.
I've been planning a trip for May because I've never been to the Flower and Garden Festival (as if I needed a reason) and I enjoy topiaries very much.
My DH says he can't go then- but doesn't have a problem with me going.
And ya know the more I think about it -solo might just be the way to go. Even though DH and I are very compatible when it comes to traveling --there are always things I think I would do a little bit different if I was on my own.

Once you've experienced the freedom of the solo Disney trip, it's hard to go back to companion trips! No discussions about which park, which restaurant, "I'm tired!", "I want to go out!" . . .it's just so liberating! Solo trips anywhere can be great fun, but Disney is the best!
