:Pinkbounc I just booked our shore excursions for our cruise in August. Just wanted to know if any fellow dissers can give me some first-hand info on any of these -- and also answer my few questions. Thanks!

Grand Cayman -- doing the 7:20 Island Tour & Stingray City
and then 1:15 -- Atlantis Sub

Has anyone ever done both in one day??

Cozumel -- Tulum Ruins.

Any tips or suggestions? Did anyone feel claustraphobic in the sub?

Thanks,
Cathy

I did the sub in St. Thomas. It was a great experience. No, I did not feel claustrophobic, but everyone is different. It is fairly spacious once inside and sitting. If you are next to family members you may feel better. We had an open seat on one side of us and the windows are pretty big. One tip is to take pictures out of the opposite side of the sub from where you are sitting. Pictures taken out of your window will just develop bluish/green.

We did those exact two tours. Our driver was a little on the rude side towards kids, but other then that we enjoyed it. There sure were plenty of big stingrays. My DH and DF did the sub, while me and my mom took the kids . They both REALLY enjoyed the sub. My guess is that it was the whole "guy thing". I would just be worried about being able to eat in between those two excursions. When they say 7:20 you really aren't starting your excursion for @ another hour.

We took along a small soft side cooler. Then we ordered room service sandwiches the night before. Took those with us when we left the ship in GC. Worked out great!

You will LOVE the Stingrays! We have done it twice and they are such gentle creatures. Make sure you take a waterproof camera. Do not be scared about feeding them. They will beg for food by rubbing your leg like a kitten.

For Tulum, dress for very warm weather and have comfortable walking shoes. This is an awesome excursion, but remember that you are almost as far south in Mexico as you can get. You are pretty close to Belize in Central America when you are there. August will also be very humid, so be prepared.

When you get back to your bus you will get water/soda/beer from an ice chest (very welcome!) and Subway sandwiches.

If you get Jorge as your guide you are in for an amazing experience as he is extremely knowledgable and funny.

Just curious -- are they able to keep the Subway sandwiches cold in that heat?
