Okay, I am tired of waiting for a special on SW so I booked Allegiant this evening for $69 each way. Figured I wouldnt find too much better of a deal. I know this airline lands in Sanford so does anyone have any idea how far of a drive it will be to the WL? I am also going to need to rent a vehicle to get to the WL, but dont need one for the whole week unless it is a better deal to keep it for the week. I was assuming that I would rent one for the day we arrive and rent again for the day we leave. Does anyone know where I can drop off a rental in Disney or what I would do- what is the best option. Any good rental rates? WE are Emerald Club members. Our dates are 12/16-12/23. Thanks so much for any help. Last year we flew into MCO and rode Magical Express so this is new.

It is a 50 mile drive to WL.

Thanks Edd. What do you think is the best way for me to get there? I was just checking on Dollar and Hotwire and they want like $90 for a day rental of a minivan. Crazy. Will I get a better rate renting for the whole week? We have 7 in our party so I guess I need a mini van or 2 compact. Thought this would be easier when I booked the tickets to Sanford.

I love Sanford airport, wish i could get an Allegiant deal there again...sigh.... it only takes about 1/2 hour to drive to WDW, no big problem-and the lines are so manageable there! Just input both ways for a rental, whichever comes up as the best deal, take it! factor in the hassle of bus rides, etc also.

Often you get a better rate for a weekly rental with discount codes and coupons. mousesavers.com has a list of codes and how to get coupons.
Try National or Alamo. Your dates are going to make it difficult to get a good deal. Holidays and demand drive the prices up.

Do you need a rental car? There are car services that will provide round trip transportation for about $180. which could include a grocery stop. If you stay on Disney the whole time a rental is not necessary, but may cost you more money if you use it there. The best way out there depends on the time. By the way it is more like an hour drive depending on the way you go. If you are going the heavy traffic hours, which is normal in any city, I-4 is not the way to go. Use I-4 later on in the evening or early in the morning and maybe midday. If you are landing during those hours take the toll road 417 known as the greenway. The tolls would run you about 5.00 each way.

I would say if you have to rent go with the coupon codes from mousesavers. I used the 20% off walmart code and the 20-ecoupon from the alamo site, I got a full size car for $159 for 9 days last August. And keep checking the prices! My rental kept going down and down.
But if you don't care about driving while you are on disney property, it might just be easier to use a transport company to get you there and back and let them worry about getting you there! You can arrive, get your luggage (really fast, I must say, we just flew allegiant) and relax while someone else drives. Good luck and enjoy your vacation!
