I just got a 1 bedroom at AKV Standard view.I was going to call MS and request a view, but looking at Lisa's map, it appears that all standard view rooms are pool views. Is this correct?

I have a standard view booked for December. (a 2 bedroom)

With a standard view at AKLV is there any point in requesting say 'near the elevator' or anything - or are they all sort of similar??

To answer the OP...yes, all standards at Jambo are pool view.

To answer the above: Yes, you can make a request like that. MOST of the standard view rooms are along the back side of Giraffe trail, and about 1/2 the back side of Zebra trail.

Putting you "near" the elevator would put you either at the begining of Giraffe trail, or toward the middle of Zebra trail. Those, to me, would be the preferential areas to stay because you'll be closer to the rest of the amenities and the pool area.

I was near the steps that go to the lobby - it was wonderful - will ask to near the steps again.

the elevator was only good for going to the Mara.

for getting around the resort and especially to the bus stops - the steps were much better. my opinion.

I would actually agree with ONE caveat (and we happen to fall into it): If you're a card carrying member of the stroller sect.

We have strollers everywhere we go, so the elevator is sort of a must.

Ah, yes, the stroller club. So, glad we are not a member anymore.

[....although, last year we still brought a very light weight one for DD5. So glad we did. We did make her get out and walk the stairs.]

Congrats on being able to book so close to check in. Enjoy your stay.

We brought one for DD5; this past january, as well as the double, side by side, for DS3 and DD1. At 5, with the amount of walking we do, I just couldn't see her making it. She did walk quite a bit...we'd park her stroller someplace central and return for it...but it was a lifesaver to have so she could rest, and we could keep moving.

I do have to say, I look forward to the day we're no longer part of the stroller sect.

Going with that logic, do the "Value" rooms equate to parking lot view? We are considering going down for the Everest Challenge, and the 1BR point difference between Value and Savannah view is huge (7 weekday & 13 weekend). I was curious if it was worth the 40 points assuming a 4 night stay?

No, value doesn't equal parking lot view. The value rooms are smaller. DH and I booked a Value room studio and had a Sunset Savannah view.

My DSis and DCuz are joining me for a few days at AKV before our whole family vacation at Vero Beach. For the 3 of us, and for 2 weekend nights, I'm going with a value 1 bedroom. We have about a 1/4 chance of getting a parking lot view. I had a savannah view studio booked at first, but I think the extra room for 3 adults will be worth it. I was happy that the value 1 bedroom was available now for the June stay.

Interesting. Does anyone know how much smaller a Value 1BR is than a 1BR at some place like SSR or BCV?
