Just booked AKL!!

I just booked AKL Club Level for August. (me, DH, DS15, DS11). Very excited to stay at a new property (we've stayed Club level at BC, WL over the past few years). Please share any tips, highlights, things NOT to do. Any photos or links would be appreciated as well.

You're going to love AKL! It's my home resort!

Congrats on your choice! AKL/V is absolutely stunningly beautiful. We stayed there on our first trip with our DSs three years ago. Since then we've been cycling through all the DVC resorts and, so far, AKV is our favorite.

I highly recommend taking time to soak up the atmosphere at that resort. We loved just sitting in the lobby! Of course, you'll spend lots of time watching the animals. Make sure you venture around the resort and look from lots of angles. I recommend going out in the evenings and using the night vision goggles too. Maybe it's just that I've never used night vision goggles before, but I thought it was really cool! We loved the zero entry pool.....I spent a lot of time just laying there in the shallow water. Oh, and zebra domes. Don't forget the zebra domes!!!

Enjoy your trip! We'll be at WDW in August too, giving BLT a try this time!

Go outside at night and use the night vision goggles to see the animals on the savannah! very cool.

AKL is a great resort! we prefer Kidani. The kids love the pool! We will be back in June.

We stayed club level last year and it was wonderful. It was like a vacation in itself. If you have never been to AKL definately take some time to view the resort. There is a lot of african culture to view. Of course be sure to view the animals during the day and at night. The night vision is behind the pool. We have stayed three times at AKL and I have to say it is still our favorite resort on property. Enjoy your stay.

Agree with others - great place to stay. Eat at boma, take one of their short tours, campfire is neat, and pay attention to the daily activities that are in you welcome packet

We are in the same boat and we are so excited. However, we are going in july and not august. Also this will be our first time club level! I can understand how excited you are!!!

We stayed in AKL Club Level in December 2010 right after coming in from a Disney cruise. We thought it would be a big let down after the wonderful treatment we received on the cruise, but we were pleasantly surprised.

Everything was outstanding! The CMs, from mousekeeping to concierge, were so nice and welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. I can't wait to stay there again!

We've stayed at AKL twice, and absolutely LOVE it! There is so much to do there, and it's absolutely amazing to see the animals from your room. You will love it.

We actually tried to do something different for our August trip, but we weren't able to get a good discount. So, it wasn't hard at all to convince my crew to go back to AKL (where we got 30% off!!!). I'm super excited now

I can't wait to see the "Welcome Home" sign as you enter the lobby.
