Well the title pretty much sums it up. I was curious if anyone had any recommendations as far as what trails or savanahs they prefer over the others, and what rooms or areas to try and stay away from. I've seen some pictures that look like the rooms are right on the edge of the savanah and seem very isolated, and then I've seen some they look like they are quite a few feet away from where the savanah starts. Thank you for the help!

The layout of AKL is kind of a "U" shape. It seems the animals are more prominent in the the middle of the grounds. If you get stuck all the way at the end of either side(like we did once), your animal count could dwindle. Besides, it's a heckuva long haul to the lobby and out to the parking lot. Other tip: Don't miss Boma, and try the Zebra Domes for dessert.:earsboy:

I just made a PS for Jiko for one night and Boma for another! I'm so excited! I was looking at a map and noticing the "U" shape and I wasn't sure if it would be better to be just off the center of the bottom of the "U" or right in the bottom. Thanks for the help!

I don't know if you can get a room at the "bottom of the U" as that is the area where the lobby is, and the ceilings go WAY up.
Just try not to get stuck all the way to the end of the "fork of the U";)

Since you are eating at both Boma and Jiko try to do the cullinary tour if you have time. It was about an hour long and we were able to sample dishes from each restaurant and talk with the chefs about the food. I think this makes your appreciation of the restaurants even greater.

What animals do you want to see? Some of the animals are only on certain sides of the trails. For instance we were on Kudu trail overlooking the Sunset Savanna and our main animals were the reticulated giraffe. Facinating to watch.

I was reading that the giraffes could be seen on all three savanahs, but I was hoping to see some gazelles or zebras. I'm less interested by the birds and smaller animals. I will have to check out the culinary tour, sounds interesting.
