I just bid on a refillable disney mug on Ebay. The most I will pay for it if I do win will be ten dollars for the mug and shipping. Thats a savings of three dollars and something. Anyone else ever win one of these mugs off of Ebay and take it to your resort? Well even if I don't win one off of Ebay between now and our trip I am going to purchase two at the resort. I think it can save us some money on our drinks.

May or may not be a good idea. If the design changes, you are out of luck. The policy is for the guest to purchase the mug and use it for the duration of their vacation; not someone elses vacation, too.

Do you purposely try to get things going...part of me wants to laugh...I am not being snarky by no means:goodvibes

Is it really worth the savings of a few dollars? One less thing to pack in my opinion!
Anyway, good luck!

Every trip we have made to Disney we have seen people using older mugs - I have never seen anyone say anything to them. I agree though - $3 savings isnt much ... now if you could get them for $3 a pop, then that would be a bargain.

I have seen this too!

Last visit to SSR...my joke was there were alot of "lost" guests...according to their mugs!!:rotfl2:

We just got back - actually we go often and notice older mugs all the time - but I will say on this trip we noticed three different families of 4 with the original All Stars Mugs!

I'm not trying to tell other people what they should do ... as long as it doesn't impact me, then it's none of my business.

But my own personal way of living, and of raising kids? I will NEVER knowingly set a bad example for my kids. I will never demonstrate through my actions that it's okay to steal and that it's okay to break the rules. I don't want to teach them that it's okay to break the rules as long as nobody gets caught.

If I start teaching them at a young age that it's okay to break the rules if there's very little chance of getting caught, I just know that will come back to bite me when they're teenagers and beyond.

My father raised me in the same style. I used to think he was a sap, a wimp, for living that way. Now I know he was a man.

Just my 2 cents.

For the extra three bucks I'd probably just skip the Ebay one and get a brand new mug at the resort. JMO

Well said. I'm glad that "doing the right thing" still matters to some.

:thumbsup2

Add my two cents also.

I don't go with this idea at all. You may try to justify or rationalize this as being frugal or smart. But the purchased mug is for your use during your stay at your resort. Simple. Not next year, not someone else's - bought or borrowed. The fact that Disney doesn't police this changes nothing. I know Disney can be expensive, but there are better more honest ways to save 3 bucks.

Best of luck to you and Jiminy.

Very well said !!!!!! Being a good person is doing the right thing when it is easier to do the wrong thing

This thread will self destruct in T-Minus..........:lmao:

For 3 bucks I don't wanna be sharing someone else's germs :scared1:

I'll buy my own TYVM

Those mugs are so gross by the end of a trip. Ewwwww. They are NASTY all the seams get filled up with gunk. I would die before I would use some strangers OLD mug:scared1:

I saw a thread earlier where this same OP was brazen in advising someone to pool hop. I kind of thought it was rude when another poster referred to her as "someone who just likes to stir up trouble," but I gotta say, now I'm thinking maybe they were right...

Why do people pool hop?

I mean I really don't understand this. It seems like to me that it would be a lot of trouble or maybe I'm wrong. I just can't see waisting what very preiscous time that I have at Disney to do this. Maybe the locals do it more. But would'nt it be extremely embarrassing to get caught?

Pool hopping veterans

So just how do you do this? Which pools do you hop to the most. Do you just walk up and jump in or what? Have you ever gotten caught?

Checking out the CSR and pool hopping

I have decided that during our free dining stay in September that we will be checking out the CSR resort and eating at the Pepper Market for a CS meal. Great Menu!! I also want to walk around the grounds a bit and take my family for a swim in thier pool. Let my three-year-old play on the playground and such. I know I'm not supposed to but were going to do it anyway. Has anyone else done this sort of thing in the past?

I would just be honest with myself, my family, and my conscious and buy the mugs when I get there. Fortunately, Disney legitimately gives us programs from time-to-time for free dining, which is a wonderful savings that they offer us.

Just playing devil's advocate for a minute.. When we bought our mugs back in 2003 we were told that they would be work for every future visit. Had I not found this board before our Feb trip, we would have brought our old mugs and had no idea that things had changed. Our fave resort, CSR, doesn't change their mugs so we are fortunate that we don't have to keep buying them. If we did, we wouldn't get them. Drinks are included with the dining plan and we rarely get drinks outside of meals. I'm not being cynical- hope it didnt come out that way, I'm just showing an alternate point of view from a newbie :)

I buy (and sell!) frequently on eBay. Generally the mugs sell for the same or even higher than you buy them for at the resort! I have also seen one of the sellers with mugs currently listed, sell the same # of mugs, using the same pic & description for a ridiculously high price. But for some reason they did not receive feedback for the original transaction. Just watch out for shill bidding & check feedback if you are a newer eBay user :thumbsup2 I usually wait as late as possible to place a bid.
