Hello all. I'm feeling tons better. Hubby made me stay home in bed all day so that this cold would go away.

Yay for hubby!!

Okay,so I have just caught up on 56 pages of chat. Does anyone in this thread ever sleep. I'm not sure if I remember everything correctly so please excuse me if some of my comments below are not correct...

Michele, how is you dog doing? I hope her ears are better?

Jazz, any word on the car yet?

Tink91, I grew up in an Aussie Rules state. I still want to take my DH to a game at the MCG, but we always come home in the summer so no footy games. I am taking him to a cricket game this trip. Just a twenty20 match, he'd be too bored by a one day game or a test.

My name is Rachael, and in Australia pretty much everyone shortens in to Rach, but here everyone uses the full Rachael, although Canadians & Americans tend to spell it Rachel. My brother is Shaun, and we all call him Fred. Don't know why.

I played the flute for 6 years. It's so not a "cool" instrument. I can't sing. I wish I could sing and play guitar.

I took ballet lessons three times a week from 4 until 13. Then my ballet instructor told my parents that I had to choose between track and field and ballet because athletics was giving me "legs like oak trees". It was not a compliment!

I was in great shape until my mid twenties. Then I moved to London, gave up exercise, and ate a lot of junk. I actually kept the weight off for a couple of years, then it caught up to me. Now I need to lose about 60lbs. I've lost 15 so another 45 to go. I just finished a 4 week bootcamp, and Friday is our testing day - we get weighed and measured and all that fun stuff.

Okay I'm going to bed now.

Thank you for asking Rachel. She is amazingly better. I am actually surprised at how quickly she is improving.

Chem Test done, I'm now free for the weekend:banana:

Yay!! Time for a fun weekend!!

good morning:wave2:

Good Morning!!

I am all caught up but on my phone so no replies :)

Get well soon/keep the sickies away vibes to all of you.

Right now I'm sitting in the surgery center waiting room. DH is about 90 min into his surgery. I went to get breakfast, I got one of those breakfast sandwiches from Subway - it was pretty good. And only 160 calories :)

Happy Friday US peeps and happy weekend Aussie peeps!

Hi there!!

I wish I was still in my PJs:rotfl:

Surgery is done and now just waiting for him to wake up - and take him home.

I hope it all went well.

I'm going in to work an hour later today, otherwise I would be on the road right now. It was soo slow in the salon yesterday that we all had a forced half day. I guess too many people were out enjoying their day off for the holiday, we'll see if today is any better. Right now I'm still in my pjs and am enjoying a large cup of tea.

I hope today is much better.

Hi Rachael
I had this amazing post all written out to you, then my computer froze & I lost it :headache:
So you are from Melbourne? Tink & I are from Sydney.
Sounds as though you have had an amazing life!!! Lucky you.
So where are you living now, and how did that happen?
Tink & I are really Americans trapped in Aussie bodies!!!! We would live there in a heart beat!
You should come & join the Exercise thread, we are all motivating each other!!!:thumbsup2
My Son's name is Sean too....we dont call him Fred, but there are many other names that describe him!!!!:rotfl2:
Better go, the gym is calling my name!

Hey,

No, I'm from Hobart. Yeah, I'm a Tasmanian :) My dad's family is in Melbourne, so I spent most of my school holidays there. I lived in Sydney for 2 years when I worked at a hotel at Bondi Beach.

I am living in Canada now, married a Canadian. I traveled a lot in my twenties. I studied Tourism and Japanese and as part of my last year of college, worked at a hotel in Tokyo. That lead to a job in a hotel in London. I moved back to Australia for a couple of years, then came to North America to visit some friends I'd met in Tokyo. Which led to jobs with the Girl Guides/Girl Scouts in Mexico and Washington State.....somewhere in there I met DH and decided to stay.

I live living here, but I'd move home tomorrow if I could talk DH into it.

Might have dinner with a friend tonight, waiting for her to call

Not a chance. He's happy to visit but doesn't want to move. We get home about every 2-3 years and I try and show him a little more of the country each time. He's spent time in Cairns (I have an eccentric great aunt who lives there - that was an interesting visit!), Hamilton Island, Sydney, Melbourne, Geelong, Lorne, Mt Martha, Alice Springs, Ayers Rock, Perth and Freemantle and of course quite a bit of Tasmania. Where we go is determined by what airfares are on sale!

Let me think about which friends are single and cute :rotfl2:

I hope everyone had a good day. Mine wasn't bad, it didn't quite go as planned. Weighed in at weight watchers - that went well, lost 1.4lbs this week for a total of 14lbs

Then I fractured a tooth. Lost half of it. Went to the dentist. The fracture goes well below the gum line. So I will need a root canal and crown. However because I'm not working right now, we dont have dental coverage. So she very nicely rebuilt it with amalgam put a temporary something or other on it. It should hold for 3-4 months. By then I will either have a job, or have save up the $$$.

Spent the rest of the day cleaning house and watching Harry Potter movies. Can't wait for #7.

My day was meh. Great on the weight loss.

I am sorry to hear about the tooth. Dental work is so expensive.

I love Harry Potter. I love the books for the books and the movies for the movies. I am such a Harry Potter geek I even follow Voldemort on twitter. Whoever does it is hilarious.

I'm a HP geek too. I didn't know Voldemort was on twitter I will have to go check it out. My girlfriend and I are driving down to Seattle tomorrow to see this HP exhibition and then HP and the Half-Blood Prince at the IMAX theatre.

Hope it gets busy for you today!

Oh boy did it!

I hope today is much better.

It was MUCH better. Almost absurdly. I went to work an hour later, and then from 30 minutes after that until the end of the day I was super busy. No chance to eat lunch, so I am scarfing down some Gorgonzola gnocchi right now.

Hi! Have an awesome weekend! That's an order!! :rotfl:

Have a fabulous weekend. :)

DH is doing well. I am playing nurse and have him on a regular med schedule and cold pack circulator thingie regimen. The cold pack is this machine that you fill with ice and bit of water, plug in and attach - it circulates ice cold water on his shoulder. He needs rest right now, and then when physical therapy starts - :goodvibes that the surgery was successful and he regains movement/use.

Good evening everyone. I don't have any major plans for this weekend. I really need to clean my house. I've done some minor picking up through the week along with some laundry and dishes, but some parts of the house (the hall near my little monkey's room and in his room) look like a tornado went through there.

We use the cryocuffs at work for knee replacements. Wonderful things! Sure beats ice packs!

keep the pain regimen going... especially if they used a local block... that usually lasts awhile and then when it wears off BAM unbearable pain. Good luck. Joint surgery is pretty darn painful!

I have to clean up some tonight/this morning. My husband arranged for a friend of his who is learning to be a masseuse to come give me a massage. I don't want anyone to see the mess of my living room lol. But I am SO looking forward to the massage! Ever since I worked all those hours last weekend my back has been giving me big problems!

Belle... I missed your earlier message! HAve a great time with Jason. Can't wait to hear all about it! (Okay maybe not all :rotfl2:)

Hi! Have an awesome weekend! That's an order!! :rotfl:

;) Yes ma'am. It's off to a pretty darn good start. Even with my lame 2 minute tour of my town. Tomorrow is the Walt Disney Family Museum.

And work. But we wont mention that.

I would catch up on the chats but I need to go to bed and get sleep.
