Just because it’s not against the rules doesn’t make it right

Where's the popcorn emoji???

Nice sentiment.....but makes me regret the FP I got with my Tables in Wonderland card once upon a time.

Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.....

If these loopholes affected Disney adversely in terms of profit, you bet they would be closed ASAP!

I agree they would. I don't think Disney is not responsible however this problem can be made better by either solution. And on a message board maybe someone thinks about what their doing in a different way. Disney probably not.

I'm really not sure of your post other than to pat yourself on the back... We all have to make decisions every single day that MAY OR MAY NOT effect someone else! I agree that being considerate is the "right" thing to do, however what you think is considerate someone else wouldn't think twice about and not because they are selfish or rude etc... it just doesn't affect them directly. These so called "loopholes" disney is well aware are our there.

There has always been and will always be people who will exploit the loopholes for their own personal benefit or gain... not just in Disney but in all areas of life. Those who do not exploit the loopholes only have their own moral courage and honor as a reward, which is far more valuable.

:thumbsup2 Yep, exactly.

On topic, sorry for the derailment.
It all boils down to everyone having a different moral compass. Some feel a loophole is cheating, others believe loopholes are meant to be taken advantage of. I personally could be swayed either way depending on the circumstance. And when it comes to Disney loopholes, I personally don't have a strong opinion either way. My reasoning is it's meaningless to my situation. I'm a show up and go kind of guy, I don't need a bunch of preplanning or strategies. But i wouldn't fault anyone who was.

At the end of it all I have made a decision that I will not use a loophole if it might mean someone else can’t have the magical vacation they want b/c I want my share of the magic and theirs.

Just being on the planet impacts others. You might get the last 8 grain roll at starbucks when I've been dreaming about it for hours. You might be the last person to fill the last show of Lion King and it's my last day at the park and I can't see it. etc. We all impact others. IMO there are no "loopholes". There are things that companies choose to leave there to be used, and things companies stop. If Disney is stupid enough to leave things and not fix them, then obviously they don't care to fix them at that time. They don't care if people don't use them or don't use them or their evil or noble reasons.

I haven't even read the huge thread about the most recent one, I don't care. It's too complicated for me, and I can't convince DH or DS to go to WDW anyway because they despise FP+ that much. But I don't care if others use that thread. Even if it somehow impacts me. I'm likely still too annoyed at the person that took "my" 8 grain roll from me that morning...

Every once and a while I come across something in the WDW world that makes me shake my head and wonder how people come to some of the justification that people use to do what they want to do. Just do the right thing. In my head I break this down to one question I use when deciding if I am going to do something. “Will using this loophole negatively impact someone else’s ability to enjoy this who doesn’t know about this?”

I am not going to get into specific examples in this post as my point is more in mindset and not being judge and jury for someone else’s choices. Currently I am planning a trip to the World for my family of five. At the end of all the planning all in this vacation will cost us about $10,000 so I know the feeling of trying to find every possible way to get the biggest bang for your buck. I can understand the temptation and justification that occurs when you hear about a way to add more to your vacation through a loophole. I can even hear the little voice in my head telling me that nobody else will know that I did this and it can make a big difference for our trip. Certainly I can understand how people can get to the decision they do, but again I say when I hear that little voice I ask “Will using this loophole negatively impact someone else’s ability to enjoy this who doesn’t know about this?”

At the end of it all I have made a decision that I will not use a loophole if it might mean someone else can’t have the magical vacation they want b/c I want my share of the magic and theirs.

Ahhhhh... it's SO easy to judge isn't it, when you don't know the other person's reasons, their finances, what led them to making that decision, the thought and deliberation they may have given it, life circumstances etc....

And... it's a bit hypocritical for you to say you don't want to be a judge and jury for someone else's choices, when your entire post is a judgement ;) Just sayin'.

Who here doesn't exceed the speed limit, or use the 12 item express line at the supermarket when they have 14 items?

I just lectured my brother about stiffing a waitress on a tip because he 'has to do what he needs to do to survive'. Does that absolve me for my TIW FP transgression?

I don't drive, so I can't exceed the speed limit (besides, around here keeping strictly to the speed limit versus going with the flow of traffic is called "impeding traffic" and can get you ticketed - they had a bit on the news about it the other night!). And I never take more items than I'm allowed through the checkout line, because I've known those ladies behind the cash for 18 years now and they'd never let me live it down if I tried something like that.

Come to think of it, it's mainly my interest in continuing to interact with the same people, and keep their respect and good service, that keeps me honest in most every area of my life. Same thing goes for Disney - I love visiting and value my time there. I'm not going to jeopardize that by playing silly games to save time or money.

Also, stiffing the waitress is just plain immoral as well as being a sign of poor character and I'm guessing your brother never plans to visit that restaurant again, eh? (Because it's also a good way to get spit in your food.) I would have gone back, tipped her, and apologized on his behalf. Guess you can't pick your relatives!

Oh, Magpie.....not even 12 items.....and a lil' ole pack of gum?

I don't think there is anyone out there that doesn't bend SOME rule, SOMEWHERE.....is all I'm sayin'.

I do like the OPs sense of moral compass, but ain't nobody perfect, and coming here to condemn, albeit in the nicest of ways, isn't going to change that in anybody, the OP included. That's why I don't get too hung up on the loopholes.

Of course, that may be because I was an immoral TIW FP stealing sob.....;)
