I just banked our last 20 points from the current use year (deadline is 10/31) yesterday. Of course, today my husband suggests we try to do a last minute weekend trip. Can we even do that since I banked our points? Will they let us borrow from next year's points?

This is our first year of being DVC members and this part of it is really confusing to me. Help!

Thanks!

You will not be able to use the points you just banked, but you can borrow from next year. And then your first trip next year you will use e banked ones.

So, for clairification...when can she use the points that were just banked. (in 2012) or After Nov. 1st this year ?? My wife and I were just discussing, we are not even members yet but we will be very soon. Thanks.

They can be used for reservations March 1, 2012- February28. 2013. Points may be banked within the first 8 months of your Use Year. They must then be used within the UY they area banked into or they will be lost. They cannot be unbanked and used within the original UY

Perfect! Thank you! I kind of thought that was the case, but wanted to make sure.

Ah.... my mistake on the use year. Thanks for the response. We have much to learn. :cloud9:

Just a word of caution: once you borrow points from next year, they can't be unborrowed. So before you borrow the points and make the reservation, be sure that you plan to truly go. I'm sure you are, but I don't want anyone reading this to forget and borrow points for a "we're probably going to go" trip only to cancel and be stuck with the lost points.
