Hi gang,

Well we just got back Friday night from 8 days at Universal. I can tell that the FOL access made for 8 long days! We were done with the parks in about three days. We had been to Universal Studios so we only hit the new rides and shows and spent most of the time at IOA. But it was great to move ahead and not have to wait especially on the more popular rides!

Staying onsite was worth every penny! Just the convenience of getting on the rides ahead of everyone else was worth it. Not to mention priority seating at the restaurants!!

We were able to get an upgrade to the Club Level at the Hard Rock and that was a great experience!! We even rented a cabana but it rain after being there for a couple of hours so we called to see if we could get 1/2 the money returned and we got a FULL credit! Very nice people, overall a nice place.

We then moved to RPH and I have to say the people were friendlier and the hotel was much prettier than the Hard Rock IMHO. I didn't care for the cabanas there (ended up with a 20.00 credit there as well because we went to dinner and came back and someone else had moved in) they didn't post a signs or anything that the cabanas were reserved and they were only steps away from the public hot tubs so you had no privacy just a lot people around including a little kid who sat right in front of the cabana to watch the tv!

We were unable to get an upgrade to their club level because the hotel was booked - some big software convention was going on last week and the hotels were pretty full. The food was EXTREMELY expensive - so we had to find more inexpensive ways to eat which meant going out to city walk or the parks every evening to find dinner. I saw many people bringing back take out.

Was your upgrade complimentary and did you ask for it? If so, did you mention a Loews card?

Carol

Welcome back, DisneyMagic!:D

You seem to have had a great vacation!
Can't wait for my own vacation to start.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

You know, I am not curios, I just want to know everything.:smooth:

So, did you see anything extraordinary going on during your stay?
I mean, they didn't close the pools for the public, in order to get those buissness men and women some private swimm-time, did they ?

I asked for the upgrade and it was an additional 50.00 a night but it was worth it for us. I'm sure I drank more than my half during the 5-7pm complimentary happy hour!:p It was noted in the computer that I was a Loews member and the nice part of it was that we arrived at the hotel by 10:00 am and we were able to go directly up to the room. The complimentary bottle of champagne for being a loew;s member followed shortly after. ;)

Megatoby: I didn't see anything extraordinary at the Hard Rock but I know at the RPH there were lots of camera crews and they were even filming something one night at the Island's Restaurant. I'm not sure if it was for advertising or what. I heard thru the grapevine that the Back Street Boys were going to in town on the 26th so maybe thats what they were preparing for.
The pool wasn't closed but I'm sure thats the reason club level was off limits for upgrades. The hotel just seem crowded that week and hard to find a "quiet spot" Also one night the Hard Rock Cafe was closed because they had "been bought out for the night" by someone. We asked if it was someone important and famous and the girl at the retail shop said no just business people, obviously with ALOT OF $$$$

Going Club Level in two weeks - first time.
Debbie has been so kind to mention some
of the foods - can you add anything to it?
Said there was seafood kind of things in
the evening? Anything else?
Could you grab water bottles anytime during
the day? Were there snacks available during
the afternoons (pool break days)? Thanks.

Minnie's Guy:

At the club level you get continental breakfast (coffee, juice, milk, pastries etc) from 7-10am. Then its beverage service all day until 11 pm (water, juice, pop, coffee) and you could go in and out and grab whatever you want whenever. Then from 5-7 they had beer, wine and munchies. Everyday was something different, chips and mini hotdogs, meatballs, sandwich wraps, three different cheeses and crackers, chicken wings(cold), different dips for the chips etc. And finally in the evening I think from 8-9pm it was milk and cookies and ofcourse the water, pop etc.
