Hi gang,
Well we just got back Friday night from 8 days at Universal. I can tell that the FOL access made for 8 long days! We were done with the parks in about three days. We had been to Universal Studios so we only hit the new rides and shows and spent most of the time at IOA. But it was great to move ahead and not have to wait especially on the more popular rides!
Staying onsite was worth every penny! Just the convenience of getting on the rides ahead of everyone else was worth it. Not to mention priority seating at the restaurants!!
We were able to get an upgrade to the Club Level at the Hard Rock and that was a great experience!! We even rented a cabana but it rain after being there for a couple of hours so we called to see if we could get 1/2 the money returned and we got a FULL credit! Very nice people, overall a nice place.
We then moved to RPH and I have to say the people were friendlier and the hotel was much prettier than the Hard Rock IMHO. I didn't care for the cabanas there (ended up with a 20.00 credit there as well because we went to dinner and came back and someone else had moved in) they didn't post a signs or anything that the cabanas were reserved and they were only steps away from the public hot tubs so you had no privacy just a lot people around including a little kid who sat right in front of the cabana to watch the tv!
We were unable to get an upgrade to their club level because the hotel was booked - some big software convention was going on last week and the hotels were pretty full. The food was EXTREMELY expensive - so we had to find more inexpensive ways to eat which meant going out to city walk or the parks every evening to find dinner. I saw many people bringing back take out.
