just back yesterday from ssr

hi all

just back stayed at SSR 8214 Grandstand, loved Grandstand, pool, bus service walk to the boats for DTD, walk to main lobby short and sweet. Everything was great at SSR except Artist Palete (sp?) holy slow, batman

Our stay was from 12/6 to 12/12. picked this week cause it is supposed to be 1 of the slowest weeks, well guess what, holy crowded, yes i said HOLY CROWDED batman. Thank god for our carry along alarm clock, our 18 month old. She got us up every morning so we didn't miss an opening.

We did what we wanted to do in the parks till noon, then forget it, It got so crazy from noon till about 5, it wasn't worth it. So back to our room for a nap for the 18 month old and the pool for the 5 year old. Then back to the parks after dinner.

glad to see you had a good time! we were down in 04 for 10 nights and 07 for 10 nights the first two weeks of december, it was also crowded, i think alot of locals and dvc members go that time. thats the best thing to do, be there when the gates open and go back at night.we have been going the first 2 weeks of october and during the week is not bad, the weekends get crowded. we are okw fans so its easy to get a 2 bedroom at that time. welcome home!

We were in the Grandstand section last week too. The 6-13th in room 9303. It is our favorite section and we request it each stay.

It was crowded. But, we found the lines for rides to be great.

I am glad you had a good time at SSR. We love everything about it!

we were in the grandstand last February. We're hoping that that is where we are located again in January but wherever we end up, I can hardly wait to hear Welcome Home.

We were there the same week at AKV and honestly I wasn't sure whether to consider the parks crowded or not, never having been at that time before. I will say that the one day we went to a park late (MK on 12-9) I was very surprised by how much we were able to get done. We got there around 12:30 because we had a really late CRT lunch ressie (2:35), and leaving for the hotel after that for our normal break wouldn't have made sense, as we were also going to MVMCP. Between our arrival and lunch check in we were able to do Mickey's Philharmagic, Haunted Mansion and BTMR, grab fastpasses for Peter Pan and generally mosey along in a very relaxed fashion. After lunch (around 4) we rode PP, IASW, PoC, Jungle Cruise, Enchanted Tiki Room and Carpets of Aladdin before having dinner.

I know that may not sound like much for some, but we also took breaks in there and basically relaxed, not rushing to anything, so I was very surprised and pleased we were able to get all our "must sees" done plus 3 we'd not done before (Jungle, Tiki Room and Carpets). We also saw the Pirate Tutorial for the first time before we rode PoC, and we finally got to ride the train and managed to fit in some shopping as well .

Now the party that night was another story--wall to wall people! Much more crowded than MNSSHP that we went to last year. By that time we were all tired though, so we didn't mind staking out spots for the parade and fireworks and sitting down . We did find an uncrowded spot for the holiday treats on the walkway between Pecos Bill's and Adventureland--they were actually standing out in the walkway calling to people to come get their treats .

That's the thing--it seemed like there were lots of people in the parks, but we never waited more than 20 min. for a ride, and many of them were 5-10 min. I'm not sure what that was about, well except in the case of HS. We got there at rope drop and headed for Star Tours while everyone else went for TSM, so I do know what happened there .

Very interesting. I knew that the first of December was popular for DVC'ers but didn't think the parks would be that crowded. Hmmm..starting to rethink visiting December 2009

DW and I will be at SSR 1/8-1/16 and requested Grandstand. We have dined at Artist Palette for breakfast and lunch, I think it is always slow. Food is good though.
