We just got back this morning from our first trip home! We had a split stay at SSR and AKL. I have TONS of pictures, but have to get them, so check back.
Let me say, it was so nice to make our first trip home. We (Me, DW, DS2, DS1, and MIL) we left Minneapolis at 705 and arrived at SSR about noon. Our room wasn't ready when we got there (it was ready at 3). Knowing what we know now, we will always care our swimsuits in our carry on.
We had a 2br at SSR. We were in 6311, Paddock section, but actually used the bus stop at Congress Park as it was closer to our room. When we got our room, we were very pleased with it. Some things I didn't like were it seemed like there were about a thousand doors at the entrance of the Master Bed/Bath area. Also, the carpet seemed worn (not shabby) that it made the floor seem slick. We swam at the main pool and with 2 small boys, loved the zero entry pool. We were very happy with the room.
We moved on to AKL, rooms 5130 and 5132. A lock-off value 2br at Jambo. We got a Savanna View, we were very pleased. Once we walked into the room, we were so glad we left SSR!
My MIL LOVED the room! DW and I also, were very impressed. Found the room to be in great condition. Didn't like that it seems like there are no overhead lights! Always seemed to be dark in the rooms, unless the shades were open. We used the pool at Jambo ALOT! DS is 3 months shy of 3, but kept going down the slide all day! I couldn't believe that a 2 yo, would go without any hesitation. We just loved the feel of the resort and would definitely stay there again.
I am going to try to get some pictures on and will give you all the update as to all the activities that we did.
