If you go in the barber shop, they will put pixie dust in your hair for free. If you want colored hair gel and pixie dust it is $5 and if you get your hair cut and styled with pixie dust it is $14 for a child.

I never knew this and walked in and checked it out on our last day. My DD 5 and 8 got pink gel and pixie dust in their hair the last day and looked so cute. You cant beat the price.

Everyone we met kept asking where we got their hair done so I thought I would share it with all of you!
Chris

we were also there last week and my son got his haircut/red gel and pixie dust. I costed $14 plus a tip. He is 10 and thought it was the greatest thing. One tip, the gel gets all over the place as the day goes on. He went on space mountain and when the ride was over, a cast member had to take that car out of service. The red gel mickey on the back of his head got on the back seat of the car. I guess they had to go clean it. Thank god the next person didn't get dirty.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun for him. Everyone commented on it. It was worth the 20 bucks.

Was there a long wait to get this done? I will have to put this on my list of fun things for my nieces to do! :flower:

No wait at all. We walked in around 10:15 am and sat right down in the chair.

Thanks for posting this thread! Awesome! I'm so excited I think my son will love this!

Had my son's hair done twice last trip. (ok first trip but trying so hard to get back) Warning though. I thank goodness had cash on me because they did not allow me to charge that to my room. I had been charging everything and had grabbed some money that morning to let my son play some shooting game in frontier land.

In the store on the Main St that sells the kitchen goods (on the right side if you are looking at the castle) there is an old fashioned phone hanging on the wall. If you pick it up and listen you will hear people talking. :) Its a fun thing to find.

Thank you for this tip. My DS5 is not going to make it three more weeks without a haircut, but he really likes the pics of the boys with the gel and confetti. And my DD9 has all one length hair and I cant see paying 15 + dollars for a trim. So it is good to know I can just pay for the gel and dust. :teeth:

I never knew that pixie dust was free (WOW! something free) and not a bad price for gel. I will have to remember this for our next trip. If the kid's don't want it maybe mom and dad will... :sunny:

My DS wants to get a haircut there so I told him next visit he could. I'm a hairstylist and he's never had anyone but me cut it for him. Our last visit to Disney he didn't need a cut. DD (5) will probably want hers cut there too or at least get the gel and dust :)
It's more fun having this done at Disney then it is at home I'm sure :teeth:

I'm 35 and last year we went to the barber shop, DS got a hair cut and so did I. The women made a Mickey out of pixi dust and molded it to the back of my head. DW and DS got a kick out of it. I was just a little embarrased.

crelange: Thanks for the tips! I am planning to wear a princess crown, and it's great to know that I can also get pixie dust! So excited! Oh..if you just wanted pixie dust...and that's free...would you recomend tipping (or if anyone else knows or has done this?!)

cindy_k: I didn't know there was a phone there too! I read aobu the one in Main street and the general store on Main Street. I will have to find this one too!! *Putting it on my list*

:rotfl: Sorry to laught, but that is too funny!

I wonder if they could use clear gel and pixie dust? Surely they could. My dd's hair is very dark, and I doubt that colored gel will show up on it. I might get mine done too! :wizard:

Not sure what the clear gel would do? Hold her hair in position? The colored gel should show up in dark hair. My DS had bright green and they put the mickey on the back and it showed up just fine. It does make a bit of a mess but well worth the attention they get!! Also, if it is a childs first haircut they make a big deal and give you a certificate with a lock of hair!!

I'm waiting to take my DD for her first haircut!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: My DH..sjs488...hair is very dark brown and the bright blue gel showed up nicely!! He was MK's newest attraction!!

We just visited the Barber Shop last week and my sons (13 and 9) got haircuts. The 13 year old removed his pixie dust! but my 9 year old loved his green-tinted hair. A plus for me and dad? We did this (accidentally, I must admit) right as the afternoon parade was taking place. The barber shop is right next to the gates where the floats go at the end of the parade -- we got to see the whole thing in air-conditioned comfort! :cool1:

Does anyone have or know of a picture so I can get a better understanding of just what this is?
Thanks

I have a pic, but no clue where it is at the moment.

They spiked hubbys hair (it's kinda that way anyways) and put blue gel on the ends of the spike.

On the back of his head they put :earsboy: just like this picture...without the details of course..mickey head, filled in. This was in blue gel as well.

Then with "pixie dust" mickey head confetti and glitter they covered the top of his head.

My DS wanted nothing to do with the gel and pixie dust..he was almost 3 at the time...but they filled his pocket up with pixie dust and put some on my head.

On our next trip DS 3.5, he wanted nothing to do with the gel, etc either...but he opened his pocket right up for pixie dust.

We are going to be there Thursday for his 4th bday and he has had gel in his hair....so I hope he'll do it this time!! :pug: :pug:

Oh, I was just thinking that the clear hair gel would glue the pixie dust into place and keep it from flying off during that killer drop on Splash Mtn!

Good to know that the colored gel will show up on dark hair. That must be some serious color! :) Sounds like fun!
