We just returned--here are some thoughts and opinions---
1) VWL--I changed our ressie here from 4 days in a 1BR to 2 days in a 2BR to save DVC weekend points--I really regret it! What a gorgeous resort and DH loves it! We used both pools although the main pool was pretty crowded even at 10PM--ate at Roaring Forks and Whispering Canyon. Our room was at the end of a hall and very quiet.
2) BWV--Our first "home"--nice, but I have to say it suffers in my mind right now compared to VWL--My parents were with us for 4 days of this one and my dad really enjoyed it, visiting the Bakery several times, and going to Seashore Sweets as well. He had a scooter we rented from Walker Mobility and the location was a real plus. We used this pool as well and DS really adored the slide, going down over and over again.
3) Poly--our 3rd stay--we switched to LV concierge (we have done GV before) and yes, the view was awesome and so were the concierge services--but the resort seemed really worn down. Again, these 2 nights were sandwiched between two stays at DVC resorts, but one day it rained most of the day (My BDay, when I had major 'hammock time' planned) and it was really dreary inside the room. DH, formerly the biggest Poly booster, was disappointed and said it was like spending a lot of money for a Ramada Inn room, except for the view. I guess the rehab can't come soon enough.
We also visited the BCV, which seemed pretty darn comparable to the other villas--only attraction would be the pool, since it seems so much like BWV.

Thanks for your report, and welcome home! My DH said the same things about the room at the Polynesian when we were there for the 4th. The view, location, and the concierge services made our stay great! That building really deserves a rehab. Laurie :D

Welcome back! Why does the BWV suffer in comparison to the VWL? We are staying at the VWL on our next trip, and we had a hard time choosing between those two resorts, so I am very interested in your opinion. Thanks!

I'm glad you enjoyed WL as much as you did! We'll be there soon!

MJS, the themeing of the VWL just suits us better. It is a really close call, though. I like the atmosphere of the BWV but my kids are young yet so entertainment isn't something I worry about for them--all they need is a pool. Of course the VWL is newer, and at VWL we had a dedicated 2BR which means that 2nd bedroom does not have a kitchenette, so it seems HUGE.
I just wish we would have had one of those 2BR villas on a rainy day instead of a hotel room!

My DH and I booked Poly for first time, this Sept. Got a decent deal on the conceirge, but now I am thinking it isn't worth it. Honest advice is appreciated. Are the rooms clean ? I can live with worn, but clean is a MUST. Or am I better off to book Riverside or Wilderness Lodge ? After reading reports on room conditions, I am a little leary. Is WL concerierge any better ?

Rock n Robin,

Your last post sounded something like my group. When we first started discussing DVC our kids were small and we absolutely LOVED the WL and had just about decided to wait and buy there. Until 2 summers ago and we had been staying at the the WL for 12 days. We decided to do the DVC tour at the BW. We feel in love with the BWV's. Our kids had been a little bored at the WL that summer, the parks had been really crowded that summer and we had spent alot of time at the resort and there just wasn't enought to keep them busy. Needless to say we bought that day and have stayed at the BWV's ever since. We are trying the BCV's this Dec for a weekend for some pool time!!

Glad you had a great trip!

By the way we felt the same way about the Poly. But I do like the new pool and we love Ohana and the Kona Cafe.
