Just some notes from our trip for anybody interested.
- We stayed standard view at the Grand Californian. We got connecting daybed rooms, but they were not renovated. Love this hotel each and every time we stay. Service was great and we spent a lot of time at the pool, which was wonderful!
- Took the DRE to and from LAX. I reported this on another thread, but it was better service for us than when Greyhound ran it. Buses were clean, on time and the drivers were wonderful. Our driver to the hotel gave us lots of landmark and trivia info from his days as a Hollywood tour guide. Our driver back put on a movie, which was great for my very exhausted family.
- Crowds were great. Never really a long wait for anything (almost every day Peter Pan was still at 20 mins at 11am). It was hot though. Most days it didn't bother me since we went to the pool, but yesterday we stayed in the parks and it was rough.
- We ate table service at WCT, Cafe Orleans, Carnation Cafe and Rainforest Cafe. Food was delicious at all of them. Had the best service at Rainforest - our server had great. We waited 45 mins past our reservation time at WCT, making us miss Fantasmic! It worked out ok though because my kids stood at the railing and watched the Pixar Play Parade while we waited. And we saw Fantastic the following night.
- Fantasmic was great. We did FPs for the 10:30 show and got to sit. I hate the way the line everybody up at the dock though. Not sure I have a better solution, but they pack people in the there, hold them ther forever and it causes a lot of pushing and fighting as people try to funnel through the gate. Witnessed an almost fist fight over it. Once seated, it was fine.
- We did not use MP and I have no regrets in that decision. Our touring didn't change at all and we still accomplished everything we wanted. I'm sure we could have gotten more done, but part of the joy for me is not power through everything and to stop and take a break. One of the benefits of being an AP holder.
- Did Walk in Walt's Footsteps, had Cassie as our guide and it was wonderful! She was great and all of my kids paid attention the whole time (ages 6-13). It is a lot of walking and Cassie recommend we bring the stroller with us and I'm so glad she did! We got to into Walt's Apartment and what a great experience that was.
If you have any questions let me know.
ETA: We booked on the AP rate, and had no problem using the FPs or dining certificate.
