Just back, the crowds are crazy!!!!!

This is certainly NOT our first time going in July. However the other visits in July were not nearly as crowed as this time. I guess that maybe becuase of The "Happiest Celebration on Earth" is taking place right now. Other than that I can't imagine why it is so crowed this time.

I really think it is post 9/11. Not so many people went on holiday for fear. Now that had lessened. I wonder how the london bombings will effect the crowds.

Oh, another tip! Do NOT go to the MK around 3:00 - 4:00. I literally had to sqeeze through people to get out. I hated it. I wanted to tape some of the MK to show my grandparents at home. I got a clip of Tomorrow Land, Fantasy Land and didn't even get through Frontier Land let alone even go to adventure land. I saw a parade starting and just knew I was not getting out anytime soon. I grabbed hold of the Video Camera and slowly but surley found ways I could slip through. The crowds were probably the largest EVER! Shoulder to shoulder, side to side front to back and any other way people could squeeze together to get closer to where the parade was. My saying of the day was "Excuse Me". I was alone too so that was easier. I didn't have to worry about losing a family member. lol.

Starting this year, the Broward County kids (Southeast Florida), will be returning to class on August 8th, so that may bring the crowds in the second week of August down somewhat. We'll have to monitor peoples' posts to see.

We even notice that during the weekends the parks are even more crowded and that's because it's the weekend for the floridians so those are the days we choose to relax at the hotel and take advantage of the amenities there.

I have been a lurker for about 3 years now, but I just returned from my 3rd trip in the last 2 years.

I found the opposite of this true on Sat mornings (the 9th specifically on recent trip). We were able to get through Stitch, Buzz (2 times due to an infant), Space, Teacups, Pooh, SW, Philharmagic, carousel, and IASW in about an hour and a half this was with 3 children that were all 6 and younger! We even missed the rope drop that day. It was awesome. We were eating lunch by around 11 AM and had done so much. We have never been so productive at a park in such a short time.

I returned with DD 6 that night for Specto/Wishes. When Spectro was delayed we walked on Splash 2 times and still got to watch the parade and great seats for Wishes. Then went back to Splash for a couple of more no-wait rides. (It too is the ride of choice for the family!)

Other days MK was packed by noon and waits of 60 min for Splash by then. But I kind of think the Sat being packed by floridians is a myth. The floridians I talked to were there for long trips and not just weekends.

We did choose to stay away from all EMH at any park and we were fine - all waits were very short at the parks for us in the mornings! We too were aftraid after reading the boards about the crowds. The worst day was the 12th in any park and that was MK it was packed that day, but since we only had to hit the ones the kids really wanted to do again it wasn't a problem.

Maybe this will help someone else plan their trip! Maybe it was just an odd day, but then again maybe not - who knows!

Loves Disney...Welcome back!

I would like to know if you had a hopper MYW ticket....Were you at the EMH park all day? I thought the best strategy was to AVOID emh nights and mornings....Maybe all the non _US visitors were on the base tickets and had no clue you could do such a thing as hop for 35$ more...

I am trying not to be too worried, I have been to WDW in July twice before and I know what the FL heat is like, that crowds can get pretty dense, but you guys are SCARING me silly.

What if I avoid EMH altogether? Could this make it a bit easier for us?

I did have a hopper MYW ticket! just so you know because you were wondering!

I'm glad to hear this. We go on Aug. 11th, and I was getting a little concerned about the crowds. . . but this makes me feel better.

and the crowds were by far the worst I have ever seen. LOVESDISNEY, like you this is not my first July trip, actually it is my 15th. (football!) My only advice to anyone is - go to the parks early!

That is so true! We got to parks early and hit the major rides first. Just as we get off of a ride the crowds come roaring in. It crazy down there right now! When we were down there it became necessary for each one of us (family) grab onto the string of the fanni packs of the family member in front of us.(ex: I grab onto my sister's string, she holds onto my mom's) we were wearing. Because trying to dodge the people and worm through the crowds caused us to start to lose eachother. It was really important that we stayed in a line never letting go!

I always go in August and found the crowds to be alot less, even though it is hotter.

We were also at WDW from 7/4 to 7/13. I agree...the parks were CROWDED!

This is the first time we've been there in July right after a holiday. Never again!

For the most part, we were able to deal with the crowds and waiting. However, the rudest people were that of the different European tour groups. As we were getting on the moving belt at the Haunted Mansion, one tour group were pushing to get on. I didn't have to move my feet. The crowd moved me. I ended up pushing back and knocked a few off their feet. I didn't care...they were so rude...even while on the ride.

This will be the last time I do WDW in July...as a matter of fact, this will be the last trip to WDW for a very long time.

I must say one thing though...nobody does it better than Disney. We went for two days at Universal and they could take a few lessons from Disney.

Overall, the family enjoyed the trip and Pop Century.
