We were pleasantly surprised to find the park not crowded this past Saturday. It wasn't till about 3:30 that we encountered much of any crowd, and that was mostly in Fantasyland. The sign on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at 4:00 posted a 25 minute wait, but it was actually only a 12 minute wait (we timed it). Splash Mountain had a 5 minute wait at 11:00! We got to the parking lot at 8:00 a.m. (as recommended by the Unofficial Guide) and followed the selective tour for adults, skipping Space Mountain and Buzz until later in the day to give our kids (ages 5 and 8) time to warm up to bigger rides. We were done with the plan by 11:45, at which point we headed to lunch then Space Mountain and Buzz. By the end of the day (we were all pooped by 6:30), we had ridden all of our favorite rides 2 to 3 times, using Fast Pass like crazy. We were truly amazed! It was an awesome day!

Just wanted to thank everyone on this board for their advise. It really helped us out a lot in planning our trip. I posted info on the Holiday Inn Family Suites in the Orlando Hotels section of the board......

Glad to hear you had such a wonderful experience. I had always heard to avoid MK on Saturdays at all costs. Time to rethink my strategy

That's great! I have heard that this month is really low on crowds this year. DC even has incentives going right now to get people to go to WDW so it doesn't surprise me that you had a great Sat.

Thanks for the report

I'm leaving friday for a short 4 day trip 3/14-3/17 to disney with my friend's daughter (11yrs)
Our two full days of theme parks will be saturday and sunday. We are definately going to AK one day and most likely will go to MK another. I was trying to decide which day would be better for MK if we do go there, I'm prepared in either case for big crowds because I don't think I can avoid it.
I hope the crowds will still be light as you mentioned.....
