Just back some observations.

I was raised with manners, and taught to be polite, I try to instill these same qualities in my Son. "Excuse me, Thank You, Your Welcome and Please" are phrases that we still use every day. I don't think it should be asking too much for people to realize that there are other people in the world and WDW, and that a little consideration should not be too much to hope for.
We all would like the perfect vacation, no waiting in lines, great seats to see the parades and fireworks and being able to walk or not walk as we please. But this is the real world and sadly I have to explain to my Son why some people are like they are, and that we need to try to be the better person.
But on the other hand I have observed that people will be rude and obnoxious because they have found that they can be, and nobody will say anything to them. I don't like to do it but I will take people to task for the things they are doing if I think they know better.

Yes I have done the parks with strollers and amazingly I was able to not hit anyone, why can't other people find this same ability. If you can't drive a stroller (or an ECV) without hitting someone else maybe you should think about not going to the parks untill your children can walk on thier own. Also if you can't drive a stroller I really wonder about your skills behind the wheel.

Thanks for allowing me a moment to vent.

I agree! I have some pet peeves of my own. This is a good place to share.

1. Why all the wheelchair spaces in the parking lots. It makes me mad that some of them are doublewide for vans and this just takes up too much space. I think the wheelchair spaces should be in the back of the lots or create a lot for w/c's only and charge double. Since they are wheelchairs, they can travle further and should not be allowed to force us walking folk to walk further.

2. I hate it when there are so many people ahead of me at the turnstiles to enter the parks. Don't they realize that I am more important. Maybe I should just have my own private entrance.

3. Strollers! Strollers! If they are too young to walk through the park, then they shouldn't be there. An infant has no idea who Mickey and Minnie are.

4. Groundhogs. Not the cute animals on February 2. I'm talking about those park guests who seek-out and reserve space on the ground for parades, shows, etc. 12 hours before the shows happen. I personally will walk by them and "accidentally" kick them in their fat &$@.

5. AP holders. You guys are the worst. Just because you fork out thousands of dollars to visit the parks everyday doesn't give you the right to think that you own the place. Whether you are a first time guest or it's your first time this week, you are still a guest and you should act the part. Guest means that you are visiting someone else's place. When you get back from visiting a family member's house, do you complain that grandpa was outside smoking, or that you couldn't find a parking place because the neighbors were having company too?

Finally, I have this question for those who love to complain about their Disney experiences. What do you think others are saying about you when you are in the park? Moving because of the birds, complaining about a complete stranger who is smoking and probably doesn't know that he shouldn't be, griping because somebody is trying to take a picture on a bridge. How could your trip NOT have been ruined by all of this. Sounds to me like your expectations are a bit too high and that you have been sniffing too much Pixie Dust.

You are what I often refer to as a FUNGRABBER. You can't have fun unless you are taking the fun away from others. You are selfish and think you have special rights or privilages that other Disney guests don't. Maybe you need to stay away from Disney for a few years and let others enjoy themselves a bit.

As I said, I agree with your point...

This includes you. Have a magical day. :)

I seriously hope that you are kidding on these. Because they are not funny. For example- the one about strollers. Just because they use strollers does not mean kids are exempt for the parks. Kids have a right too.

just got back....i got ran over or rammed into by a stroller 24 times and my DBF got ran over 32 times...we actually kept count because we couldnt believe it!

That's weird, cuz I just got back too and counted 56 times that someone walked directly in front of or directly into our stroller while we were walking like it wasn't even there.

Discovered many people don't see strollers at WDW just like many drivers don't see motorcycles on the road.

I was going to post this same thing. Those who have been 'rammed into' with strollers should try pushing one for a day through the parks and see how many times someone tries getting in front of the stroller so your only options are to slow down or keep going and let them pay the price for cutting us off.

I'm quite certain that at least some of people's experiences with getting hit by strollers are due to their own 'not noticing' the stroller and getting right into its path. On the other hand, I'm certain that there are also some stroller pushers who will get distracted and will accidentally get into someone else's path (or ram into the person in front of them who stops suddenly to check something out). So, let's just say maneuvering those things through that many people is not an easy task so accidents are bound to happen. I'm sure the fault is on either/both sides about evenly.

WOW. Gee I hope you are not serious? I don’t think the OP wanted to start a debate. I think they were just voicing their own opinion.

Elevator thing happens everywhere. When I see people crowding the doors and I am with the kids I remind my kids in a loud enough voice that everyone can hear to stand back because the people onboard need to get off first. Most of the others get the hint and move to the side before the doors open.

Now don't get me wrong...I LOVE to take pics at the WORLD and if I see a family taking a pic I will go around them if possible AND I ask if the person out of the pic would like to get in etc....but there are times that you don't see everyone around you taking pics...and why is it some people decide to take pics at the exit of a ride right when everyone is getting off of it....we had this happen and the woman taking the pic told her little kids....ugh wait until these stupid people go by so we can take your picture....I stopped short and told her that it is wonderful what she is teaching her kids...to call people stupid and to be rude.......and people who were also exiting told her if she was smart she'd wait 5 mins until the crowds were gone to take her picture........why let the little things get to you.....you are on vacation....you WILL get the pic.....if she was nicer maybe someone would have offered to get her in her family pic as well........nice huh? I love going to the world so I don't let peoples nuttiness get to me....too much!! :)

YOU'VE GOT TO BE JOKING!

I have finally found a system to deal with people (with or without a stroller in front of them), who walk straight towards me on a pathway in one of the WDW parks, looking like they think I should move out of the way.

I simply STOP dead in my tracks without moving at all.

That gives them four choices: (1) walk around me, (2) turn around and go the other way, (3) stop and stay in place, or (4) run into me.

Either choice works to my advantage as I can react or not act depending upon my mood, which at Disney is almost always mellow.

Enjoy.

PS. The exception is if there is a wheelchair or ECV coming my way. Then I keep walking but get out of the way as best I can.

Ohhohohoho! You are TOO funny with the made up list of complaints! You showed the OP, how dare they come here and post a couple of complaints about what are, for the most part, examples of people purposefully breaking Disney's rules. What did they think this is, a Disney related internet message board where people are welcome to come and post their thoughts, positive AND negative? Silly OP!

And honestly, while I could often do without the constant rehashing of stroller debates, parade-pusher stories, etc, clearly they're valid and commonly encountered annoyances- and if all it takes to make the OP feel better about the situation is to post something here? So be it. It certainly doesn't hurt me in the least.

You are what I often refer to as a FUNGRABBER. You can't have fun unless you are taking the fun away from others. You are selfish and think you have special rights or privilages that other Disney guests don't. Maybe you need to stay away from Disney for a few years and let others enjoy themselves a bit.

And that? Is possibly the most snide, condescending, and unwarrantedly rude bunch of crap. I certainly hope you don't honestly believe you have a leg to stand on when commenting about the attitude of others, because it's clear that's not the case.

Wow...I must comment on this. You sure are wound up tight. :confused3 Maybe you need to go to Disney and have some fun. :thumbsup2 Everyone else is just commenting on things that may bother them and I agree with most. Perhaps some people just don't realize what they are doing is irritating others; I'm sure it's not malicious ;) they just are not thinking. Anyway, lighten up with the attitude and have a pleasant day! :wave2:

You know, I could have dealt with it until the paragraph you left off, where the poster told the OP that s/he only went to WDW to complain, that s/he is selfish and just trying to ruin everyone else's fun and that s/he should'nt go back to WDW for a few years until s/he can quit complaining. I guess something that grossly rude just colored the tone of the whole post for me- maybe I'm weird. :confused3

Just returned from another magical WDW trip!!

And just for the fun of it, can I add BUS ETIQUETTE!!

Rude people on the busses....oh my!!

When seated my DH and I jumped up and let those w/little kiddos have our seats and also elderly folks. It is amazing to me that people would sooner look the other way and hope the person sitting next to them will do a kind deed instead of them. We have 3 kids, and even though 2 are "older" we did lots of lap-seating so someone else could sit down as well. I am totally amazed at those people who let their 2 - 4 yr old kids take up a seat when there is standing room only.

Hi OP
You know, I did see a CM talk to a guest about smoking in a non-smoking section. It was Snow White, and she cheerfully but firmly told him to put out his cigarette. I think it was at Disneyland, though.
I would gladly dress up as a character and go around patrolling the park for the aforementioned infractions. In fact, I would pay Disney to do so. Wouldn't that be a hoot? :sunny:

OK, I have a question for you all....

2 years ago I was in MK after regular park close for what was then called an e-ticket night (or something like that) with my DD who was 4 at the time. My DH and DS stayed back at the hotel and it was just me and DD. It was summer so the park was a bit more crowded then I expected it to be having paid the extra admission price to stay later. People were lined up for the parade an hour prior to start time and having no interest in the parade I was trying to make my way up Main St. then over to Toontown. I was in the hub area and I went to where the ramp was b/c I had a stroller and there was a woman sitting on it! I said "excuse me" and she said "you will need to find another way, this is my spot". I said "you are sitting on a handicap ramp!". She said "your'e not handicapped are you?". I said "no, but how do you expect me to get this stroller up the curb (it was a rental). she said, if I move for you I have to move for everyone and that is not going to happen". Keep in mind she is sitting down so she is face to face with my DD in the stroller and she is holloring at me with all the nastiness she could muster. I called her a name I swore I would never say in front of my kids and pushed my stoller up the part of the ramp she was not sitting on, barely missing her, which still meant I had to lift up the back of it to get the rear wheels over the curb. What I WANTED to do was just mow her down, :moped: but I "try" not to let the jerks of the world get to me.

Now here's my question.... Are people ALLOWED to sit on those ramps? I mean this was an hour b/f the parade so I think it is insane for her to expect people walking around the parks to move around her. But I can see once the parade starts that being an "ok" place to sit. To me it is not worth getting into countless fights w/ people about how "I AM NOT MOVING" for an hour... why not sit on the damn curb or street?

I just got back Friday night and I have to honestly say that I didn't notice most of the things that we comment about being so irritating here on the DIS and I was LOOKING for these offenses.

I only saw TWO people smoking in non-smoking areas and both times they were way off to the side away from other people....NOT that this makes it right, but I did not see anyone walking around with a lit cigarette or anyone smoking in a crowded area.

I had NO problems with strollers or ECV's.

I was never on a standing room only bus, so I can't comment on that one...

The ONLY annoyance I noticed ALOT was the "dead stopping in a walkway"
I'd be walking along behind someone and all of a sudden they and the rest of their group would just dead stop. Have to admit it drove me crazy...even with assured clear distance, sometimes you can't help bumping into people who do this.

All in all, we had a WONDERFUL trip and even with me LOOKING for the common irritants, we didn't see them much, if at all. I was very pleasantly surprised.

I'm sure if a CM would have seen her they would have asked her to move, its only right. I have been told to move by CMs when i am somewhere where I am not supposed to be. Sorry that had to happen to you. That woman is crazy. You handled the situation better than I would of!
