Just got back from 4 days at WDW and we hit several restaurants. It was just myself and DD5 for a mom/daughter get-away.

Day One: Did the Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic Dinner Package. I love the creamed corn spoon bread and the grilled sirloin. Plenty of healthy food choices, which is nice – lots of fruit and salad. And in the anti-healthy area, the desserts were pretty good, too! Overall I’d say a B.

Day Two: Ice Cream Social at the Garden Grill at EPCOT. I thought I had read that we were getting ice cream sundaes, but not really. It’s more like a chocolate chip cookie with a cone chocolate-glued to it with vanilla ice cream in the cone, sprinkles, etc. It was great, and cool, and a very good value for seeing Mickey and his buddies, but I wouldn’t call it a sundae. (I’m not being picky here, just clarifying.) Drinks are not included in the price, but I drank enough diet coke to get more than my $1.99 worth! After a long hot morning, this was a great break.
Dinner at the All Star Movies food court. What can I say – it’s a food court and it’s food court food. There is a lot of variety, and it was tasty – I was actually very surprised.

Day Three: PS at Crystal Palace for dinner. The buffet was strikingly similar to the one at Hollywood and Vine. I had peel and eat shrimp and a very good salmon. The kids buffet was nice – but especially the fixin’s for PB&J sandwiches! DD was kind of freaked out by the colored rainbow bread and opted for plain white bread, though! The big bowl of graham crackers also went over very well. I vote for the desserts here – the brownies were fabulous! Pooh and Tigger hit our table within two minutes of being seated, and Piglet signed our book while we were at the buffet. Eeyore came along later, but there was no sign of Piglet again as we were leaving. He came around the corner just as we were walking out, and the CM escorting him was nice enough to let us take a picture since we missed him in person at the table. They are pretty strict about keeping the characters to the tables and keeping kids at the tables and/or the buffets so that the characters can concentrate on the people they are visiting.

Day Four: Breakfast at the food court: Mickey waffles are great! Root beer float at Aunt Polly’s on Tom Sawyer Island was just what I needed to keep going. Dinner PS at Liberty Tree Tavern. This one gets my vote for best meal. It was the same price as Hollywood and Vine and Crystal Palace, but so much better. It is served family style. The rolls and honey butter are wonderful, as was the raspberry vinaigrette dressing on the salad. DD ate a REAL meal here – turkey, green beans, mashed potatoes, etc. Sometimes it’s nice not to have a “kids” buffet handy. The apple cobbler and ice cream was very tasty, too. Most importantly, we finally saw Minnie. DD had worn her Minnie shirt and her Minnie ears to prep for the occasion, and she was very attentive. Others there were Pluto, Chip, Dale, and Meeko. We’ll do this one again in December and I think we’ll skip the buffets.

Other food observations:

1. Nothing beats a Mickey ice cream or a popsicle in the middle of the day.
2. Water, water, water. I probably spent more on $2.50 24oz bottles of water than I did on junk food. I tried keeping the bottle and filling it up, but DD thought it didn’t taste as good and it wasn’t cool (as in cold, not as in stylish!). I have to admit, I agreed and it was worth every penny. I only drank soda at restaurants and we needed the water to stay hydrated.
3. For each PS we were seated within 10 minutes of our arrival time - usually more quickly. We had early dinners and I think that helped to optimize our time - we avoided heavy lunches, had an early dinner, and did rides while others were eating.
4. We hit the bakery on our way out after the parade - it was a great snack several hours after dinner and held us over to the next day. But - the bakery used to pump out that wonderful, divine scent.....it was gone. Not sure what happened to it?!

Your reviews,I enjoyed reading them.::yes:: :wave2:

Thanks for the reviews! My 6 year old nephew will be very happy to hear that they still have the rainbow bread at CP as that is the reason he wants to eat dinner there during our August trip.
