just back..refillable mug change

Hi everyone...don't want to open a can of worms and hope the information I was given was correct since I am sharing it. If someone has different info. please let me know.

While at the Yacht/Beach club I went to purchase a refillable mug. They had two kinds. The skinny kind is the same as the mugs that are popping up at all the other resorts. & The larger base kind (old print with Mickey/minnie on the beach w/ pluto, etc)

I was told if we purchase the skinny mug it is a "generic mug" that can be used at the other resorts during our stay. If we purchased the "larger based beach/yacht club mug" it was only good for yacht/beach club.

We ended up purchasing the larger base because we prefer the scene on it.

Also at the Yacht club there is a location off the yacht club lobby that had coffee/tea, etc to refill mugs.(or purchase coffee, bagels, crossaints, etc. Nice little location so that you don't have to walk over to beach club gift shop.

I kinda wondered if that was why they were very generic, so that you could use them at the other resorts. Thanks for the info, it's good to know for our September trip!!

Ya know, I've been thinking about the new mugs, and the possibility that they could be used at other resorts. I think I might like it if its true, because on our "off" days, we go around to the other resorts to have a look see, and it would be great to be able to take our mugs and use them. Disney probably figures that one generic mug with the year on it, able to be used at all resorts during your stay, would be better than people re-using old mugs. I don't know, it was just a thought

Just picked up on the generic mugs arrangement via the DIS Podcast....(so useful and helps you look forward even more to the next trip). Does anyone know whether these mugs can also be used at the Waterparks as well? Guess I'm being optimistic.

This is great for those of us who do a split stay! We will be at POP for 2 nights and then OKW for 5 and we drink a LOT of soda. The mugs were a necessity on ouy honeymoon at the WL. I'm glad I don't have to fork out almot $100 on mugs for our trip and I also won't have to haul around 8 of them! Hopefully, this policy will still be in effect when we go in January.

Oh this is awesome! We coudlnt' get into the pop for free dining so we were considering purchasing two sets of mugs (one for ASMu and one for Pop) so that we could have the frozen cokes there.. now we dont' have to! We're also doing alot of resort hopping (for meals.. NOT the pools.. don't worry ) so this will be a good way to get drinks at other places as well...

I guess because they usually say it's only good for one visit, not for the entire year. If there was a year on it I think more people would feel they could give it to friends, family etc to use during that year (not that some people dont' do it already). At least the year thing would prevent people from bringing it back every trip I suppose. I always thought they should just have some way to tag the mug, like a clip on a zip tie they could put on the handle that had the month and year and was color coded. That way there would be far less abuse I think.

Although, when we went to disney about 10 years ago and stayed at ASSp we were told our mug was good "forever".

I know , that would be a great idea. We also take time to go to the other resorts to look around. If you could use a generic mug, you would get more use out of it, and could have a drink at which ever resort you were at.

In the picture it appears that the year is on the mug. I assume then that there will be another new mug at all of the resorts in 2008.
