Hi! What a great time I had! I was there from the 12-17th and I will be doing an in-depth trip report. Here're some quick impressions for you:

Hotel - Del Sol Inn - good for the price. It was max 5 minutes from door to gate. I had an adjoining room and could hear every.single.word the neighbours said. That meant they could hear me when I told them to shut the aitch-eee-double hockey sticks up at 1230am and 645am (different neighbours each time). They did and it was good. The pillows were great to put my aching feet on at the end of the day, and their home-made cookies were soooo yummy! When we come back, if we book through them again, we get 35% off!! Uh... OK!! Some rooms are going under reno right now, but it's done during the day because they know we're out. Room cleaned every day and it was just fine for what we needed.

MHP - I did two, one on a Wednesday, one on a Friday. Thanks to the great advice here, I spent about 1/4 of the time in line for character meets, 1/4 of the time on rides, 1/4 of the time doing the Treat Trails, and 1/4 of my time getting from point A to point B. The three big bottlenecks were going from Frontierland to NOS along the waterfront, in front of Star Tours between there and Launch Bay, and past the HM towards Critter Country. The remainder was doable, if a little crowded.

Rides - Pirates was CRAZY long all day. The first time I had a chance to even want to ride it was Friday night after the first parade as it was essentially a walk-on. During the day it was a minimum 2hour wait. HM you MUST pull a FP or you'll be standing for 100mins easy. BTMRR the line up was really long too, so pull your FP or you'll get sore feet. I did the ride about 5 times daytime, three times night time, all with FP. Star Tours was long during midday, so either go first thing, or get a FP for later. TSM was the longest ride line I stood in, and only because it has no FP. It was super fun, but if I had been thinking I would have done it first thing. RSR is awesome Single Rider!! I did it 3 times as a SR, and once with a nighttime FP - SO awesome!

Attractions - Frozen was meh (to me). Great staging, wonderful costumes and singing and performing. I won't go again unless my kids insist next year. The lineup was all around Hollywood Land and I got the 1:35 show. At least I was in the shade for the standing around bit. Dapper/Cadaver Dans were awesome as usual, bands all over the place. Nice Dixieland quintet on the Mark Twain upstairs do a 15 minute set. Halloween Parade was AWESOME! Not too long and the HH's horse must be the best trained horse in the universe to plonk along with all the crowds and spooky things. Second parade was easy to find a seat on a bench in front of the main street station. Soundsational looked good from a distance, but I lost interest and moved on. Many people grabbing curbs hours in advance. Didn't see the nighttime parade on off-MHP nights. Halloween Screams was awesome and the projections stay up on the buildings along Main Street all night - so fun!

Characters - My autograph book has very little space left! I managed to meet: Kylo Ren, Darth Vader, Chewie, Pocahontas, Tianna, Ariel, Cinderella, Belle, Merida, Mulan, Jack & Sally (LONGEST line ever - over an hour. Worth every second!), Snow White, Mary & Bert, Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, Olaf, Spiderman, Captain America, Rapunzel, Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie, Jessie, Woody, Wendy, Peter, Hook, Daisy, Donald, Mickey, Mickey & Minnie, Malificent, Dr Facilier, Chip & Dale, Mater, Lightnin', and Red. Saw a cute interaction between Gaston and Belle (in her blue & white outfit) where he was trying to get her to marry him. When he was distracted, she ran away back to the m&g area. I didn't meet him but got a few photos of him. So funny!

New experiences for me - Abuelita hot chocolate at Jolly Holiday (I'm addicted now!), chili lime corn on the cob (yummmmm!), Star Tours (never had a chance last time to do it), Monorail (ditto), beignets at Ralph Brennan's.

Most Memorable - drinks in Club33!!!! That's all I'm gonna say, and I'll write more about it in my TR.

Weather was great (except yesterday morning was drizzly/raining) the whole time.

So, is Pirates using FP then? Trying to gauge times for our upcoming trip but the app doesn't show any FP for it at all (every other ride either shows FP return times or that none are available) but Pirates makes it appear that they aren't offered for it at all. Is that just the app (or my version of it) not being up-to-date then?

Thanks!

No, Pirates is not using a FP - that's why the line was SUPER long. It would snake around the usual bit, then up around the top of the wee overpass, then back down again... it was horrible. I'd suggest doing it at night (it's a dark ride anyway) when crowds have diminished a bit, or FIRST thing in the morning at rope drop.

Ah, my bad! I was reading the paragraph you titled Pirates and then completely missed that you then noted HM next when talking about FP. I just read "you MUST pull a FP" and thought you were still talking Pirates. Thanks for confirming!
