We (DH28, DS15mo, MIL52 & Me21) just got home from a week long stay in Orlando. Did DTD 9/26, MK 9/27, AK 9/28, MGM 9/29 and Epcot 9/30. Got Baby's 1st haircut @ MK (Daddy got his done too)! Also had PS @ the Rose & Crown in Epcot for Illuminations. Ate dinner @ Ohana on 10/1. We stayed at the Horizions by Marriott. I got so many great ideas and such help from everybody on this board, I'd just like to offer help to anyone else!

Thank you for your offer. We have two foster sons, 4 & 6 and this will be our first time at WDW. We'll only be there for 1 day and night. What would you recommend we go see. I love the haircut idea, can you explain why it is special there and the cost?

Glad you had a great time. I'm going in Jan with DD(4 1/2), DS(turns 3), and DD(just shy of 1). I went last year with my DD but this will be my DS & baby's first trip.

Did you see any girls getting haircuts? I was thinking of getting baby's cut. She could use it now but I was thinking of waiting. I just put a pony tail on the top of head like Pebbles. I'm not sure I want to cut her hair but they could probably clean it up a bit. Maybe even DS would like it.

What did you think of 'Ohanas? Did baby find it too loud?

I would definately recommend both Parades. DS loved Spectromagic!! The Dream Come True Parade was neat too, and a few characters stopped to pat him on the head. DS was to little, but I would definately take the boys on Barnstormer in Toontown. We saw alot of little kids just loving this ride. Also, DS loved the Buzz Lightyear ride. DH & I had fun on it too! The haircuts were really fun. They charge $12 for kids and $15 for men (no womens). They do a regular haircut (whatever you want) and then they take colored hairgel (blue, green, red, yellow or purple) and either spike up the hair, or comb it through. Then they sprinkle "pixie dust" (sparkly mickey shaped confetti) over it. It's really fun! Hope you have a great trip!

Yes, I saw a few girls that had gotten their hair done. They just trimmed up the edges. For older girls (not babies) they did pretty braids and used the colored gel and "pixie dust". For baby's first haircut they still charge the $12, but they give you a pair of mouse ears with "First Haircut" sewn on the back and a framable certificate w/baby Mickey & Minnie, baby's name, date and who cut it. They also save the hair in a packet for you. DS honestly didn't have enough hair to cut, but I really wanted to get it done there (where else can you get mouse ears & pixie dust?). They just cleaned it up a bit, spiked it w/blue gel & added the sprinkles. He looked like a little Hades from Herculese! It was so cute!

Ohana was great !! The atmosphere was really neat and it really wasn't very loud. In fact he slept through most of dinner! The food was excellent ! All you can eat served family style. It's Ploynesian (sp?), but if your kids aren't very adventerious food wise, you can order hot dogs or toher kid-friendly things. If you go, be sure to make PS and request to be seated in the main dining room by the open kitchen. Everything is cooked over open flame and you can watch the chefs cooks. They also have games for the kids and a few strolling entertainers. Enjoy you trip and have fun!

So how were the crowds? You didn't stay on premises, so did you feel like you still got to see everything without the advantage of early entry? We're staying onsite, but I'm not sure I want to rise before the roosters every day!

With the exception of MK, crowds were very minimal. We never waited longer than 30 min for anything if we used fastpass for the major rides. I would have to say Epcot seemed the least crowded. Test Track was a 10 min standby wait and a walk-on w/fastpass. Mission Space (awesome!!! ) was a 20 min standby, 5 min fastpass and walk-on single-rider. I would also HIGHLY reccommend using the baby swap!! And make sure to ask a CM at every ride before you get in line! It varies from place to place, and if you forget to get your baby swap pass (not sure exactly what it's called, but it's really just a free fastpass good for up to 3 people) you're SOL. We stayed at a great resort (used MIL timeshare) about 2 min away and found there wasn't any problems not using early entry. Actually, we were warned ahead of time to avoid the parks on their EE days since everything would be crowded by the time we got there. Don't know if this would have been true of not due to the seasons but... I would defiantely use EE at MK though! We went on Sat and it was pretty packed. Of course, this was the only night all week that they were doing Spectromagic and fireworks, so I'm sure everyone that was at WDW was at MK that day! I would say use the EE for MK, but other than that you probably won't need it. Have a GREAT trip and have a GREAT time!! Hug Mickey for me!

Thanks so much for the information! I can't wait!!!

We are really looking forward to our first time there. (Us, 52 and foster kids 4 & 6.) We're taking our 25 year old daughter, too. We'd like to stay at a hotel with suites. We're only staying for one day and night. That way we'll have a bit more privacy and a place to unwind than in a hotel room. Does anyone have any suggestions? We'd like it probably rated a 3 star (out of 4) and close to WDW, which is probably where we'll be most of the day. I know my DH wants to go to Epcot for a bit. I'll need to go to the room for a nap and so want it at or close to WDW w/ on site transportation.

What is EE and CM?

Thank you all for your exciting suggestions!
