Family is just back (yes, had a WONDERFUL time) and my wife and I have a question regarding ET.

When in line at the entrance an employee asks your first name which she/he types into a computer. After which she gives you a 'well-used lamenated 'ticket'' which is then taken up at the other line.

Why do they ask this?

They told the woman in front of us that they didn't have her name in the data base and the employee used a more common spelling.

We are just curious (thank goodness we aren't cats!).

Thanks

At the end of the ride ET says goodbye to everyone on your ride vehicle by name. They scan the cards at the beginning of the ride so ET will know the names of everyone on the bikes.

Since you're asking, I'm guessing the exit 'message' wasn't working...

When you exit the ride, ET is sitting next to the exit paths, and will say "Goodbye, <your name here>". Really gives the kids a buzz - blindingly obvious how it's done to the adults, but the kids don't normally hear the conversation between the adults and the rideop!

My kids love to go on this ride for the sole purpose of giving bogus names to hear them at the end of the ride. They usually are cartoon characters or some other weird ones. I was mortified the first time they marched up and gave Spiderman and Hulk as their names. However, the team member didn't even blink an eye. Just typed the name in, smiled and handed the kids their cards.

I then started hearing other families with some very weird names. I am betting those team members hear the strangest of family names! Although, it does make it a bit fun at the end when ET is saying goodbye to a "bike" full of super heroes :goodvibes

My 2 boys do the same thing. Unfortunately, one of my boys is 43, & cleverly disguised as a DH.

When we went with a couple of other families, the kids would theme their names. Once we had Moses, Noah, Mary, Joseph and Jesus. Now, that was embarrassing!

If we have to wait in line at ET, thinking up odd names for ET to say becomes the main thing my kids do while we wait!

The last time we were Esmeralda, Doofus, Do-right, Dudley and Antman. Pick a name with a lot of syllables, it sounds funny!

There certainly is a lot of Doofus' in the world. :rotfl2: My guys have been a Doofus once or twice. Oh, you were talking about using it as a fake name. They've done that too. :rotfl: I bet that's the most used name on that ride. :teeth:

I will never forget (using our real names) ET said "Bea Norm Sherry"

We still laugh at that one...

My dad loves to use old family names, like Aldeadore
yeah, ET can;t say that one right

We like to give a short name to get through the line faster so we are all "Ed".
