We just got home last night from a 5 night stay at WDW (we stayed at POP Century). We arrived Friday, so maybe most of the POP Warner kids were gone, but we didn't encounter any unruly cheerleaders. We saw some, but they weren't acting up and misbehaving in any way. We also encountered a few Brazilian groups. OK, they were very loud, obnoxious, and intimidating (and there seemed to be like 30 kids in a group with only 1 adult). We would just walk the other way and made sure we got away from them.
We did our first MVMCP on Tuesday, 12/13. And it will be my last. It was no way worth the money. Yes, the parade was nice, but that's about it. We actually HAD to watch the parade twice because we couldn't get around the throngs of people. I tried for around 45 minutes to get around the groups of people waiting for the 2nd parade, and I just couldn't. Yes, the rides were pretty much empty, but I just couldn't get from one area of the park to another because everyone was watching the parade and the areas were impassable with a double stroller. I'm sure there were ways to get through, but I just couldn't find them or I just couldn't fit the double stroller through. We didn't get our pic taken because it was just too crowded. We did get hot chocolate and cookies because I went to get them while the parade was ending so it wasn't busy. But once the parade was over, it was soooo crowded that I'm sure people waited a very long time to get their hot chocolate.
We took a nap before we went to MVMCP, but the kids (dd7 and ds5) were still so sleepy by 11pm. We ended up staying until midnight because we just couldn't get through the parade to leave. Then we had that LOOOOONG walk back to the POP bus stop. Thankfully, we got a seat on the bus.
So, I won't be doing MVMCP again. It was just too much money to ride a few rides, drink hot chocolate, and see a parade. Oh, and it was COLD Tuesday night. We had on tshirts, long sleeved shirts, sweatshirts, and mittens. I also brought along our winter coats that the kids used like blankets in the stroller and they were still very cold. And it was crowded. I mean, the rides were empty and with no waits if you tried during the parade/fireworks, but there were LOTS of people there and it was hard to walk through when the parade/fireworks ended. We just finished the Buzz ride and we wanted to go to Pirates, but we just couldn't get through because of the amount of people there and with the parade going on.
For the rest of the trip (not during MVMCP) it was crowded. Not like the summer crowded, but many, many people. It was alot more crowded than it was the first week of January 2005, but about the same as it was December 2001. And the weather was crappy this trip. It was cold and rainy one day which really made the day at MK kinda miserable. We had our rain ponchos which kinda worked, but our jeans were soaked up to our calves and the stroller was so drenched that the kids ended up walking and we put their stuffed animals in the stroller under some plastic. We went to Tom Sawyer's Island in the rain, and we practically had the place to ourselves, which was nice. We saw only 2 other families there the whole time (we stayed there about an hour). I was trying to decide which was worse: WDW in the cold and rain, or WDW during a hot summer day...I still think the cold and rain was better...but not by much. So, it wasn't the "perfect" WDW vacation, but we still had a good time and took the weather in stride.
