Just back last nite, from our 2 1/2 week's at the Polynesian GV. We had a great time. Nice crowds and FANTASTIC CM's! Our only problems seemed to arise from other guest.
Which we where not going to let bother us.
We had been delayed on our late flight so we got in extremely late, after 1am. But still recieved a great corner room in raroatonga 3rd floor quiet pool view. It was a nice location. Quick to bus, parking, laundry, GCH, etc.. & the pools.
We where very happy. But in the morning we find out we have heavily smoking neighbors in the non- smoking room. Not just on the balcony either. Definately in the room, our exhaust in the bathrooms where conected and it kept filling up our room with smoke. Both of us have asthma, this was not working. Stuck in out 2 days with alot of meds and I finally called the desk, they said they would "talk" with them. It did not improve got worse in fact. They seemed to spend a lot of time in the room smoking, not at the parks etc.. . Anyway we wind up having to move, I can no longer breath in this room, even thou I really do not want to part with this view. Everything I requested.
The cm's tried to move us that nite and really worked on it, they where great but only could only offer us 2 unpopular rooms and we still had the bulk of our vacation to go. So we opted to wait out another nite and move in the morning. We got a voice mail at 7am and a manager had worked it out a different way and a "room" was now open. So up we got and moved to Tokelau! corner room, 1st floor, lagoon view. It was our 1st attempt at the 1st floor and really liked. There is a very noticeable difference in the size of the room from the 2 building also. Especially coming from 1 from another. Tokelau had an extra 3 feet on the side of the bed next to the bathroom when in raratonga you could barely walk between the wall and the bed. We also liked the bathroom set up better in tokelau. But the water pressure was terrible in the tub, ok in the shower but if you like the tub would still be filling it up for 2 hours. Now maybe it was a 1st floor issue, or the buildings issue, or being on the far ends issue don't know. We had absolutely NO problems otherwise in tokelau. We always worried that 1st floor would be noisy with people going to other floors etc... . but we never heard anyone in the hall. We heard more people on the 3rd floor going out the stairwell? Also I worried about the people upstairs footsteps or jumping noises, but we could not hear that either. Tokelau was very quiet.
Would like to thank the poster with the "over ride" for the AC. It worked wonderful!
But only in Raroatonga. Tokelau, our room had a dail thermostat and had not been updated to the "new" system. However; the AC would shut itself down each nite by the resort, that we could not control. (even thou we tried).
Also, Tikiman had mentioned "new" mattresses and pillows before I left, We had these in the rarotonga building but not in tokelau. And tokelau could use them.
We had great mousekeeping in both buildings.
Construction is continuing but did not effect us at all. They construction people where as pleasant as any of the regular cm's are usually. They where very low key. Looked liked parts of rapa nui might be ready anytime now, they had the bottom all lighted and the rooms fixed but no one in them yet. Looked very soon. But they continue to work on figi, tavula, nuie, & rapa nui. With nuie closed not sure where "smoking" is now? But we walked through tahiti and they had alot of rooms of smoking and right across the hall from non-smoking, thought this was intresting, and not the usual way it is set up? Tikiman might know more about that, or might even of answered that question already while we where gone.
We had a really great time.
And love the Poly!
