This was the most amazing trip ever!!! We did the Segway tour and did an Illuminations cruise with the famous and only Captain Ron. He was absolutely wonderful and the next day he even sent us at our resort more Disney trivia. He made our cruise and I would definately request him the next time. We did not have a refrigerator at POFQ or at the POLY , but, we requested one and we were not charged. At POR, we had a recently remodeled room at Magnolia Terrace and we already had a refrigerator in our room. I really liked the old decor, but, you gotta love the new decoration, it looks more elegant now. We moved to POR after the POLY and it did not feel like a downgrade at all. POR has a bigger TV 27" and at the POLY we only had the 19"...which of course DH pointed out right away. If you had any questions about these resorts, I will be more than happy to answer them.. I will write a trip report later, I need to do laundry now !! ::yes::

How many days did you spend at each? What was your view at the Poly? Did you find that your vacation seemed to go faster because you resort-hopped? We love to resort hop, but sometimes I feel the time flies by too quickly as we move from resort to resort. Thanks in advance for your feedback. I'd love to see pics of the new decor at POR if you have them!:D

Hi-Welcome back. I have a few questions. We're staying at the Poly next month for the first time. We have stayed at the old Dixie in the past, so we are fairly familiar with POR.

You said it didn't feel like a downgrade going from Poly to POR. Please explain. The transportation alone would seem like a downgrade to me -- but maybe you had more resort days than park days? How about the restaurants -- those weren't a downgrade either?

What building did you stay in at the Poly?

Thanks for taking the time to answer questions. Being that we're leaving for 6 nights at Poly next month, I'm very curious as to your comments! Glad you had such a nice trip!

So sorry it took me so long to reply.. work, laundry, cooking and cleaning..oh, I wish I was back at Disney ;)

We stayed 1 night at POFQ,3 nights at POLY and the last 2 nights at POR. Let me explain myself, we could only get 3 nights at the POLY, so we moved to POR afterwards. Going from a deluxe to a moderate did not really appeal to me at all, but, it was either that or come home. To be honest, I love POR ,so, this is the moderate that I chose to downgrade to hoping that I would not suffer from the downgrade shock. You will loooove :lovestruc the Polynesian!!!! Watching the monorail go by, looking at the castle on your way to/from breakfast.. breakfast at Kona, dinner at Ohana, watching wishes and the electrical water parade from a lounge chair at the beach. We planned our park days around the POLY.. MK,Epcot and MNSSHP. The day we did Epcot we headed back to our hotel at 5PM, went to the pool, had a few drinks then at 730p we decided to head over to the MK to watch Spectro.. we were there in 10 minutes..it was absolutely wonderful. We did our AK and MGM days while staying at POR and it worked out perfect. Just an FYI ...the "food court" type of place ( Captain Cook's ) that they had at the Poly is terrible we tried breakfast and a late dinner snack.. I never tasted such inedible food before ..stay away from it. That is my only complain about the Poly, after spending a day in the park, you really don't want or have the energy for a sit down dinner, so, they should really improve the food at Captain Cook's.We ended up ordering room service ,but, by the time the food got to our room we were too tired to eat.

We were assigned to Rarotonga overlooking the parking lot.. "Monorail View". Our floor smelled of smoke and this is supposed to be a non-smoking building :earseek: . I inmediately went back to the front desk and we were reassigned to Tokelau. If you don't like the room you are assigned, don't be afraid to ask if there is anything else, the CM was very courteous and accomodating. From our room in Tokelau I could see the monorail go by in the distance and the top of Space
Mountain :scratchin ..not the best view, but, we wanted a balcony and our CM even got us connecting rooms, so, we were happy!!

To sum it up.. we loved, loved, loved the Poly!!! We did not mind the resort hopping.. we felt we were starting a new adventure everytime we changed our hotels!! Would definately do it again!!

Can you give me your comparative thought of POFQ and POR? I realize FQ is smaller, but personnally what is your insight?

Did you have Disney transfer your luggage when you moved to a new resort? If so, how did that work out for you?

Hey Bridgettesmom, do you remember if there was a coffeemaker in the room at POR? And if so, did they charge you for the coffee fixin's each day?

Coffeemakers- They had coffeemakers at POR and at POFQ. We are not coffee drinkers,so, I have no idea how much they charge for the refills.

I liked POFQ, the reason we stayed there for just one night was to try it for future reference.. The theming at POFQ is more fun with a Mardi Grass atmosphere.I guess I like to walk, because, I like POR better. It just feels like there are more options at POR, as far as recreation..The room decoration at POFQ and at our remodeled room at POR was very elegant and they added a privacy curtain at POR.They are both very quiet resorts with very beautiful landscapings. As far as my room number at POR, I think it was 8776, but, I am not absolutely certain. We paid for a standard room at POR, but we had a partial view of the river from our room.. IMO.. I would stay at POFQ if my grandmother was staying with us or if we had small children traveling with us. As a matter of fact, my SIL wants to go over for a quick weekend with her 3 yr old, I recommended she stay at POFQ

We had a rental car when we transfered to POR, so, we transfered our bags ourselves.

I forgot to add, that we rented a canopy boat and at surrey bike at POR, it was very fun and our family truly enjoyed them.

If you have any other questions, I will be more than happy to answer them. :wave2:
